Claire lowered her eyes, her tone stiff. "Then please don't forget what you promised me, Mr. Langford."

"Relax, we'll sign the papers as soon as we get back. I'll put in a good word for you with your dad. Stick with me, and you'll get plenty of perks."

Claire gave a stiff twitch of her lips and didn't reply.

Nathan looked puzzled. "It's weird, though. Why was Miles Zimmerman so accommodating today? He didn't make things hard for me once. I honestly thought he was going to sabotage me over that incident at The Azure Pavilion."

"Maybe he was just in a good mood," Claire muttered, turning to enter the suite.

He hadn't sabotaged Nathan, but he had spent the entire evening torturing her in secret.

The moment the door to the couples suite clicked shut, Nathan took off his jacket, his eyes practically swimming with undisguised lust.

He walked over. "Let's not waste a romantic night. We shouldn't let Penelope's good intentions go to waste."

"Since today went so perfectly, shouldn't we do a little bonding?"

As he spoke, he reached for Claire's waist, but she swiftly dodged him.
