Miles carried her over and tossed her onto the sofa.

He gritted his teeth and spat out a single word: "Liar."

"Think carefully before you answer that question."

The man turned on his heel and walked out of the suite.

At that exact moment, Nathan walked out of the bedroom, fully dressed. He looked at Claire, whose clothes were thoroughly rumpled on the sofa, with sheer disgust.

"What are you doing? Why haven't you changed your clothes yet? Don't keep Harrison and his wife waiting!"

"I know," Claire replied, getting up and heading into the bedroom.

At the hot springs behind the Rosemont Luxury Resort, the moonlight cast a mesmerizing glow over the water.

Penelope selected a large, luxurious pool, and Claire and Nathan followed her in.

Miles arrived slightly later, dressed in a dark gray bathrobe.

"Miles, I thought you weren't coming," Harrison greeted him warmly. "Come on, get in the water."

Miles stepped into the hot spring, taking a seat at a perfectly neutral distance from Claire.

The hot water lapped against his firm stomach. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes to rest.

Penelope brought over a platter of chilled fruit. "Claire, try some cherries. They're incredibly sweet."

"Thank you, Mrs. Rhodes."

She shot a discreet glance at Miles, picked up a cherry, and instead of eating it herself, offered it directly to Nathan's lips.

Her eyes sparkled, and her voice dripped with honeyed sweetness. "Nathan, you should have a taste too."

Nathan froze for a second. He hadn't expected Claire to be so aggressively affectionate.

A smug gleam flashed in his eyes as he opened his mouth and ate it.

"It is sweet," he mumbled vaguely, looking at her with a heavy dose of flirtation. "But it's sweeter because you fed it to me."

Claire pretended she was about to feed him another one. The next second, a large hand clamped down hard on her waist from beneath the water.

He wouldn't date her, wouldn't claim her... but behind closed doors, he didn't miss a single chance to show his overwhelming possessiveness.

She set the cherry down and smoothly shifted out of his reach, the smile on her face fading slightly.

"I'm so sorry, but I'm feeling a bit dizzy. Please, take your time. I'm going to head up and rest for a while."

Nathan shot her a nasty look. She was always so full of issues! But he couldn't blow up in front of Harrison and Penelope. He simply waved a hand and added, "Call a doctor if you aren't feeling well."

She stood up, the water cascading off her body like a mermaid emerging from the sea.

She stepped out of the pool and walked deeper into the secluded, private hot springs.

A place with no people. Much more peaceful.
