"Claire, what are you doing? Hurry up and open the door, Harrison and Penelope are almost here!"
On the bed, Claire tugged desperately at her restrained wrist.
Miles methodically screwed the cap back onto the ointment. He looked up, his gaze catching the rare sliver of panic in her eyes.
"The little boyfriend is back. Are you nervous?"
"Miles," Claire whispered urgently. "Please let me go... I'm begging you."
He didn't make things difficult this time. He took the key and unlocked the handcuffs.
Claire quickly scanned the bedroom. Using all her strength, she shoved him backward onto the bed, sending rose petals flying everywhere.
"Get under!"
She yanked the heavy duvet up, completely covering him, and hastily bunched it up to disguise his silhouette.
The moment she finished, she practically sprinted to open the door.
Nathan glared at her viciously. "What took you so long? Damn it, good thing I ran fast and beat Harrison and the others here."
He shot a glance into the suite's bedroom. The bed looked obviously slept in, and a shiny pair of handcuffs was resting blatantly on the nightstand.
Nathan took two steps closer, a sleazy, mocking gleam flashing in his eyes.
"Wow, who knew you were so wild on your own? Why pretend to be so innocent with me? Won't even let me touch you."
"Move. I'll lie down on the bed so it looks more convincing when Harrison and the others walk in." Nathan tossed his suit jacket aside and swaggered toward the large round bed in the bedroom.
Claire's pupils trembled. She immediately bolted forward, blocking the bedroom doorway.
"Nathan, there's no need!"
"What's there to fake about this? Being too modest will just make us look suspicious."
As Nathan hesitated, a knock came from the suite door.
The two immediately stopped arguing and went to answer it.
"It's quite late. I hope we aren't disturbing you?" Penelope said as she walked into the suite.
Her eyes landed on Claire's slightly flushed cheeks, then casually drifted toward the messy bed in the bedroom. A knowing smile flashed in her eyes.
"Mrs. Rhodes, Mr. Rhodes, please come in," Nathan welcomed them enthusiastically.
Claire's eyes darted around nervously, terrified they would walk further inside. Under the covers in the bedroom, Miles was still holding his breath.
"We won't come in," Penelope chuckled softly. "Young love is just so passionate."
"The natural hot springs behind the hotel are open tonight. My husband and I were planning to go for a soak, so we wanted to see if you two would like to join us?"
Nathan nodded eagerly. "Absolutely. Thank you for the invitation, Mrs. Rhodes. We'll get ready and head right over."
"Alright, see you in a bit." Harrison and Penelope left together.
The door clicked shut.
The smile on Nathan's face instantly vanished. He collapsed onto the sofa, looking thoroughly annoyed.
"What was with your attitude just now, Claire? You weren't enthusiastic at all."
"I don't care what kind of scheme you're running in your head, but in front of them, you have to act like we're madly in love. If you ruin this deal, you can forget about the Jenner contract!"
Nathan shot her a deadly glare, turned around, and marched into the bathroom inside the bedroom to take a shower.
The sound of running water echoed from the bathroom.
Outside, Claire threw the duvet off the large bed. Her voice was frantic and low. "Hurry up and leave."
Miles sat up, his hair slightly disheveled.
"Leave?"
He took his time, casually resting his long arm against the headboard. A few buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing a sliver of firm, tanned muscle.
