"Where do you want this?"
Miles took the box from her, his forearm muscles flexing under his shirt.
Claire pointed to the display table. He carried it over and set it down with practiced ease.
She beamed. "Thank you, Dr. Zimmerman."
He didn't reply, but his gaze darkened as he noticed her reddened knuckles.
"What else needs moving?"
Stepping closer, she teased, "Is this your way of returning the favor, Doctor?"
Confusion flickered in his eyes.
She blinked playfully. "I lent you a hand last night, so you're lending me a hand today. Fair trade, right?"
Standing nearby, Betty chimed in, "Claire, what did you help Dr. Zimmerman with?"
"Well..." Claire drew out the syllable.
The man standing before her visibly turned a shade of crimson.
He was far too easy to fluster.
The crowd around Luna Atelier's booth began to swell. Aside from the silk itself, most of the young women were captivated by Miles.
Tall and athletic, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, he looked impeccably sharp in his tailored shirt and slacks. Paired with his gold-rimmed glasses, he radiated the lethal charm of a perfectly polished, dangerous intellectual.
Claire's heart fluttered. Looking up at him, she spoke in a saccharine tone.
"Dr. Zimmerman, since you're already helping, why not go all the way?"
He glanced down, an unspoken question in his eyes.
Claire immediately grabbed a bolt of raw Iridescent Prism Silk and draped it elegantly over his arm.
"Look how perfectly this fabric suits you, Doctor."
Her fingers lightly grazed his wrist, her warm breath ghosting over his skin.
"Just stand right here and be our gorgeous brand ambassador for a bit."
He was about to refuse.
Sensing it, Claire deliberately drew out her words.
"If my dress hadn't been ruined, I wouldn't have to resort to showing off the raw fabric, would I?"
"It's all your fault for last ni—"
Miles swiftly cut her off before she could broadcast their dirty laundry to the room.
He clamped his lips shut in defeat. "I'll stand."
