"I've crossed the line?" Vivian jumped to her feet, her chair scraping harshly against the floor.

She lost control, practically screaming. "Miles Zimmerman, I've had feelings for you for a whole ten years, and you're telling me I crossed the line?"

The entire room plunged into dead silence.

Jared's slice of beef hovered near his mouth; he completely lost his appetite.

Miles remained completely expressionless, not even bothering to look up. "Then I apologize, because I don't feel the same way about you."
