Miles's expression shifted, the veins on his arm bulging violently, yet the hand gripping Susan remained steady as a rock.

Jaw clenched tight, he pulled her weight back from a wildly unnatural angle.

"Help him!"

Jared roared, and the crowd surged forward, hauling Susan's limp body safely over the barrier.

Claire's voice trembled uncontrollably. "Your arm..."

Cold sweat beaded on the man's forehead. "I'm fine. Just dislocated."

"Hurry, let's get you down to the ER to pop it back in." Jared quickly supported him.

Inside the hospital room.

Thanks to the sedatives, Susan was sleeping peacefully.

Just two days ago, her mother's emotional state had been perfectly stable. Why the sudden, drastic spiraling?

Claire picked up Susan's phone and typed in the passcode.

The moment it unlocked, several messages popped up on the screen.

[Susan, tell Claire to transfer me some money!]

[You miserable old hag. You raised a useless daughter who can't even keep a man. Let me tell you, as long as we're not divorced, you have to listen to me! And Claire has to listen to me too!]

Claire stared at those glowing words, her fingertips trembling as fury blazed a vicious path through her chest.

She should have known. The only person capable of driving her mother to the absolute edge was her "beloved father"!

She took screenshots of every text, sent them to her own phone, completely erased the message history on her mother's device, and finally blocked his number.

After ensuring everything was handled, Claire left the room and headed to the orthopedics department.

Miles was sitting on a bench outside the ER, his left arm supported by a sling.

When he saw her, his gaze softened slightly. "How's Susan?"

"They gave her a sedative. She's asleep." Claire's eyes dropped to his arm. "What did the doctor say? Is it serious?"

A surgeon's hands were more valuable than life itself.

She had wanted his help, but she never intended for him to get hurt for her sake.

This debt was too heavy, far exceeding anything she could bear.

"Just a standard dislocation. It'll be fine after some rest," he brushed it off lightly. "No nerve damage."
