Piper
Never having had sisters, well, other than Vivienne who I didn’t know was my sister, I’ve never had moments like what I had before my Luna ceremony. The champagne and the laughter flowed freely all afternoon. My new friends and family helped me get dressed, do my hair, and my make-up. It was loving, sweet, fun, and perfect, except for one thing.
“Kennedy, where is Vivienne? She promised she’d be here.”
“She will be. There’s no one in this world more important to her than you, Piper. She would not miss this. But one of the she-wolves she’d been talking to went missing and she felt the need to go search for her. She knows the time of your Luna ceremony. I have faith that she’ll be here.”
As the time drew closer to my ceremony and Vivienne hadn’t arrived, I became more sure that she wouldn’t make it. I tried not to be disappointed, knowing that what she is doing out on the streets is important, but I still wanted the only two blood relatives that I care about here to see this momentous occasion.
When I get the notification that it’s time and that Henry is outside, I walk downstairs with my friends and family. It was nice having Nicolette with us. She was quiet, but! think it helped her feel like she was part of the pack being included in our gathering. I even saw her smile a couple of times.
Everyone is just about to walk outside, when Vivienne bursts through the front doors of the packhouse.
“I’m here!” she pants, rushing up to me. “I just need to wash my face and hands and I’ll be ready.”
“I’ve got a dress for you, Vivienne, if you’d like to change,” Kennedy says sweetly.
“I think I’m too late for that,” she says, looking at me.
“Nonsense, it’s MY Luna ceremony. I’ll wait.”
And to my surprise and happiness, everyone waits with me, except for Kennedy who takes Vivienne upstairs to help her into the dress. They return quickly and my sister is transformed. She’s wearing a simple, yet elegant floor length matte silver dress with off the shoulder sleeves, a cowl neck, and a moderate slit that goes to her mid-thigh.
You can see the faint fingerprint bruises on her arm, but they’re mostly gone. The light dusting of make-up enhances her already stunning features.
‘Gavin, would you come escort our sister to the front so she can sit with our family?’ I ask in the mind link. I know Vivienne won’t feel comfortable sitting with the others unless Gavin is with her.
‘She made it?’ he asks excitedly.
‘She’s standing right in front of me.’
“You look fantastic,” I tell her.”I feel like an imposter. Luna shouldn’t have spent this much for a dress ‘ll never wear again,” she says, looking at Kennedy who looks quite pleased with herself.
“You never know,” Kennedy shrugs, just as Gavin walks in.
“Whoa!” he says, looking from me to her and back again.” Damn, I’ve got some hot sisters.”
I laugh.
“He’s not wrong, Piper. If you weren’t my sister, I might have to challenge Alpha Henry for you. Damn, girl.”
I laugh. “Thanks, Viv, I say, carefully hugging her so my dress doesn’t snag hers. “You’re sitting with the family. No ‹ arguments.”
And then, it’s time for me to walk outside. The moment I see Henry, all the butterflies that had started to take flight in my stomach fly away. I feel the hot flash of desire coming from my mate and I know I was right about the dress.
I stand with Henry, saying the words I need to say to officially make myself his Luna, but I can’t stop looking at him. He’s so incredibly handsome. And then it’s time for the pack to accept me. Every one of them steps forward easily and willingly with the exception of Nicolette. I had hoped that she would join our pack, but I know that she’s still reeling from everything that happened to her and without her wolf, it wouldn’t be the same anyway. Then Henry announces me as our pack’s Luna, kissing me in the way that only Henry can. He pours every bit of himself into the kiss. I forget everyone and everything around us, throwing my arms around his neck and returning the kiss, letting my happiness and need for him flow through the bond.
When he finally pulls away from the kiss, growling possessively, I smile, then turn to our pack. We make our way off the stage, and I’m immediately embraced by family, friends, and pack members.
I’ve been passed from one person to the next, barely able to move when I hear a pup nearby.
“Alpha Henry, when can show our Luna?”
“Show me what?” I ask, looking at her.
“Your present!” she says excitedly.
“Lisa, shhh. You need to wait for Alpha to tell her,” her mother says.
“Tell me what?” I ask, looking at Henry.
He smiles, then claps his hands and gets everyone’s attention.
“Who wants to show their Luna her Luna present?” he asks loudly.
I startle when the entire pack cheers. I frown, looking at Henry, but he just continues to grin, obviously verypleased with himself.
