Landon
Fucking Stellan. He should be locked away inside that fucking prison. Instead, he’s causing my mate to worry herself into a state where I can barely get her to sleep. Even when I do get her to sleep, she jolts awake frequently, needing to go check on Lily to make sure she’s safe.
I don’t know why Stellan has fixated on Lila. He had his chance with her and he blew it, preferring to force Cyra into a mate bond. How he thought he could get away with keeping Lila on the side after mating with Cyra is beyond me. Not only that, Lila deserves so much more than to be someone’s dirty little secret.
Now, here we are again with Stellan impacting our lives. I want to rip his fucking heart out for what he’s done. He threatened my mate and my daughter, and he threatened my Alpha.
“Baby, please, come back to bed,” I plead with my mate.
“What if he gets to her, Landon? What if he kills our pup? What if he does it just to prove that he can?” she says, beginning to cry as she walks around our room carrying our daughter. Her stress is causing our pup to get fussy in her arms.
I walk over and take Lily from her. She tries to fight me, but I force her to look at me.
“Lila, do you really think I will let anyone hurt our child?”
She shakes her head no, but she continues to cry as I take Lily from her.
Osman begins purring at our daughter while I pull Lila into a side hug. I already put the bassinet in our bedroom, hoping that would help Lila settle, but it seems that she only feels that Lily is safe if she’s in her arms.
I lead her to the loveseat in our bedroom and sit, holding Lily with one arm and wrapping the other around my mate. I pull her against me and begin rocking gently.
“What are we going to do, Landon?” she asks.
“We’re going to let Alpha Squad do their job and find Stellan and put him back in jail. Then we’re going to have the party that we should have had this weekend.”
She leans her head on my shoulder and I begin to run my fingers through her hair. I look at the clock. I need to get to warrior training, but I’m not comfortable leaving Lila when she’s like this. So instead, I reach out in the mind link.
‘Alpha, I’m going to be late to warrior training,’ I say to Alpha Yorick.
‘Is Lila okay?’
‘She’s not sleeping and her stress is making Lily fussy. I just need to calm them both down.’
‘Take whatever time you need.’
‘How is Alpha Cyra?’ I ask, wondering if she’s having the same issues.
‘She’s hoping Stellan comes for her so she can be the one to rip his throat out,’ he says. 1
I smile. My Alpha has come a long way since I met her at the Academy last year.
‘I just spoke to Cyra. You could take Lila to stay with her if you want to come to warrior training, but don’t feel obligated. Your mate needs to come first. Plus, with so many Alphas here, as well as C-Squad, warrior training is going to be intense,’ Alpha Yorick says.
I really wanted to be a part of warrior training. When I first started at the Academy, my goal was to become a member of one
of the elite squads. But then I’d met Lila, my goals had changed. She’d been mistreated by Stellan, her fated mate, and when the Council forced him to accept her rejection, I’d immediately felt the pull to her, right there in the courtroom.
After that, Alpha Squad, Beta Squad, C-Squad, none of them mattered. All that mattered was Lila. My mate is sweet, kind, generous, and she gives her whole self to the mate bond. I’ve never had anyone surrender to me the way she does, and I can’t get enough of it. She’s fucking perfect and she’s all mine.
And now, Stellan thinks he can take her from me? He’s wrong. She’s MY mate. She’s wearing MY mark. She bore MY pup. She is MINE and I will kill him or anyone who thinks that they can take her from me.
“Baby, do you want to go sit with Alpha Cyra and Cyrus while I go to warrior training?” I ask my mate.
She nods, sitting up, even though I can feel that she’d rather stay here with me.
“You don’t have to, baby,” I tell her.
“No, you should go. We’re Gammas. You need to be in warrior training.”
