I’ve just connected my call to Vivienne when Henry walks into the bedroom. Since I thought he was going to have dinner, I’m surprised to see him in here so soon. However, when he gives me a look that lets me know I’m about to be a very, very lucky woman, I understand. Hopefully Viv won’t keep me on the phone too long.

“Is he really okay, Piper?” Viv asks.

“I think he will be. He accepted Henry and I as his Alpha and Luna tonight. He was feeling very unsettled without a pack to belong to. He recognized right away that our pack feels differently than Dad and Grady’s did.” 1

She snorts. “There’s no comparison. I don’t know what your pack feels like, but even Alpha Quirin’s pack feels safer than theirs ever did.”

“I’m not sure how you ever felt safe there at all, Viv,” I say.

“I didn’t, that’s why I left when you did. Speaking of that, I’m going to be going out on the streets soon, Piper. If Gav wants to come visit me, he should do it quickly or he’ll have to wait until I come back.”

“You’ll be back for my graduation, right Viv? I really want you there, you and Gavin.”

“I wouldn’t miss it, Piper. I’ll even tell you that I love youas your graduation present,” she says, teasing.

“That sounds like the best present ever,” I say seriously.

“Ugh! You are so ridiculous. Fine. I love you.”

“I love you too,” I say. “When you’re on the streets, you need to be careful, Viv. If Dad and Grady were willing to sell us, it’s possible that others out there knew about it. If they were your customers …”

“Piper, you chose my companions, remember? Are you worried they can’t hold their own against some pushy johns?”

I’m allowed to worry about YOU, Vivienne. You’re my sister. I love you. I want to keep you safe. But I also know you’re one hell of a badass and as much as I wish you weren’t doing this, I respect that you are.”

“Thanks, Piper.”

“I’ll have Henry talk to Gavin on their way to the pack tomorrow. He can have Alpha Quirin talk to him when they get there too about coming to visit you.”

“I spoke to Alpha Quirin earlier. He said as long as Gavin knows the rules of his pack and agrees to follow them, he’s fine with him coming to visit.”

“Awesome. Call me before you leave,” I say as Henry walks out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel slung low over his hips.”Will do. Goodnight, Piper.”

“Goodnight, Viv,” I say, hanging up and tossing the phone aside.

“Don’t you look yummy,” I purr.

“Why do you still have clothes on?” he growls. My body shivers and my back arches at his dominance.

“Take them off and bend over the bed so I can fuck you like you asked me to,” he says, slowly and deliberately.

I slide off the bed, slowly unbuttoning my shirt and letting it drop to the floor, before sliding my jeans and panties off as Henry’s eyes get darker and darker.

When I turn around, I look at Henry over my shoulder.” Like this?” I ask, arching my back as I bend over.

He growls, stepping up behind me and fisting his hand in my hair, pressing my face into the bed as he grips my hip and slides inside me.

It isn’t long before I’m squeezing the sheets, pressing them against my mouth as I scream as my mate does exactly what I asked him to do. He makes me forget everything but him.

I’m so lost in the pleasure he’s giving me that I barely hear the phone ringing from somewhere nearby. Thankfully, Henry ignores it.

When it begins ringing again, he growls.When it rings a third time, I start to lift my head, only for him to push it back down.

“I need you come for me one more time, Piper,” he says, before thrusting hard and fast, pushing me over the edge again before finding his own release deep inside me.

He collapses over me, reaching out to get his phone when” it starts ringing again.

“This better be good, Q,” he growls, still panting. He kisses my shoulder and stands, sliding out of me.

“You know I wouldn’t be calling you if it wasn’t,” hear Quirin say.

crawl onto the bed while Henry turns and sits beside me.

I move behind him, wrapping my arms around him while I listen in, making sure nothing is wrong in our pack.

“Do you know an Alpha Peter, Henry?”

Henry growls. “Peter Moore? Patrick’s younger brother?” he asks, looking at me.

“I just got off the phone with Wendy and Hacker.

Apparently, Peter is the one who was planning to buy Piper.”

Henry snarls so loudly that the walls shake.

But, if my father and brother sold some of these women into mate bonds, how are we going to find them? And even if we do find them, can we get them away from these men who bought them like cattle? I can’t imagine they’re treating them well, I say.

He runs his fingers over my cheek. “One step at a time, one battle at a time, Piper. I know you want to save everyone. Let’s find a starting point, and go from there,” he says, not looking away from me. “I’ll call you tomorrow when I’m on my way home, Q.””Sounds good.”

“Wait, while I have you, how’s Nicolette?”

“She woke up briefly today. She became terrified that something happened to Philip and Kennedy had to sedate her. She’s going to keep her under until Yara can evaluate her tomorrow night.”

“Okay, thanks. See you soon,” he says, hanging up the phone.

“Come lay down with me. Let me hold you,” he says.

“How did I come from such a horrible man, Henry?” I ask, as I lay on his chest. I sigh as his arm comes around me and I hear the steady sound of his heart beating.

“You came from your mother, Piper. Just like Gavin,” he says, kissing the top of my head.

“Are you okay?” I ask him. I can tell he’s pushing his anger aside to be here for me.

“I’m not sure Tyrus and I have ever wanted to kill someone like I want to kill Alpha Peter right now. I’m not sure I’ll be able to stop Tyrus from killing him if we find him and I’m not sure even want to. He wanted to take you from me.

He wanted to make you his,” he says. I’m surprised he’s not growling.

Hift up onto my elbow and look at my mate. I can feel the fury pulsing off him, but his voice is deadly calm.”I think I understand that look in Quirin’s eyes now; that crazed, psychotic look that he gets when someone dares to threaten Kennedy.” He looks at me, gently touching my cheek. “I watched him torture Alpha Christer before killing him and at the time i thought that Q was about one step away from going feral. But I understand now. I understand EXACTLY how out of control he felt at the thought of someone, anyone, doing something to his mate. Peter better hope I never get my hands on him. When it comes to you, I would be just as deadly as Quirin. There would be no mercy, no second chances, no forgiveness. I will make the world as terrified of me as they are of Quirin if it means that you will always be safe.”

i cup his cheek in my hand. “I’m right here, Henry. He didn’t get to me and he can’t. I wear your mark now. No one can ever take me from you.”

He rolls over me, sliding inside me as he watches me. ” Mine!” he growls.

“Yes, l am.”

Because I know he needs it, needs to know that I’m his and I’m safe, I lift my chin, exposing my neck to him.

He sinks his canines into my neck, suddenly and unexpectedly sending me over the cliff of an explosive orgasm. Fallon responds to her mate’s possessiveness with her own, sinking her canines into Henry’s marking spot.

I cling to him as my body contracts around him, asfireworks go off behind my eyes while Tyrus floods my system with his venom.

The only thing in the world I can hear is Henry chanting, ‘ mine’ in my mind, over and over again.
