Chapter 106
Daniel’s POV-
We have church in thirty minutes, and I can’t bring myself to get out of bed, to wake Olivia up. After she fell asleep last night, I watched her sleep for a while, holding her tightly. I was worried she was going to fade away from me, that she was going to disappear from me all together. But that wasn’t the only thought that kept me up. Vargas was still out there, we likely won’t hear from him for months if he survives at all. I know I would have severed his spinal cord, so even if he survives, he would be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, however long that’ll be.
Right now, my thoughts wandered to the wedding. Olivia told me she wanted to get married as soon as possible. We still needed time to plan, so she wanted to set it for after we graduate high school. If I am honest, that has made me happy. She will be going to college in the fall, and I wouldn’t be going with her. I can drop her off and pick her up every day, but she will be alone in college, surrounded by frat boys. Her being my old lady wouldn’t be enough to deter them. Her being married and having my name and my ring on her finger, might deter them more. So, I am hoping that they will stay away from her.
God, how are we going to tell Gold that we are setting a date for our wedding? As much as he knows, I will do anything for his daughter, that I love her. He is still getting used to the fact that his daughter is old enough to be in love and date another man.
There was a knock on our bedroom door. It made Olivia jump awake. She panicked but I pulled her into my arms. “It’s okay, my queen. You are safe. It is probably my dad. I shot him a text and asked him to bring us some breakfast and something else,” I told her.
She nodded, “I am sorry, I am so jumpy.”
“Don’t ever apologize for that. You will be okay with time, and I will be right here with you,” I smiled, pressing a brief kiss to her lips. “Good morning, my queen.”
“Good morning, handsome,” she smiled at me.
“Let me get the door. You stay right there and keep looking adorable,” I winked at her, before climbing up out of bed and heading to the door.
I opened the door a small crack, to see my dad standing outside our door, with coffee and breakfast on one tray, and a wrapped gift in the other. I made something to give to Olivia, and I had it wrapped. I asked my mother to look after it until I was ready to give it to her, or if she was ready to have it, which ever came first. I thanked my dad as I took the tray and gift from him. I kicked the door closed behind me, and headed back to Olivia. She was sitting up in bed now. I placed the tray down on the bed, and handed her the gift.
“What is this?” she asked, looking down at the gift in her hands.
I smiled, “It is something that I made by hand for you.”
Her gaze moved to mine, as her expression changed to one of surprise. I am not usually the one that makes things and gives them to people. Hell, I would just buy what I wanted to get to someone. At most, I might do repairs or customizations on bikes. I have repaired quite a few bikes before, and I did a customization on Mike’s bike and on my dad’s bike. While Olivia was making that brace, I watched closely because she was making part of the brace with leather, and I have been able to make leather items since I was young. I wanted to jump in and help if she needed it. My grandfather taught me. One of my saddlebags on my Harley, I made by hand, and I never told anyone. They just assumed it was a custom job that I had paid someone to design and craft for me.
When I was thinking about asking her to marry me, not long before I had asked her to be my old lady, and I told my parents that I was thinking about popping the question, my mother made a comment about wanting to get a wedding journal to help Olivia plan our wedding. But instead, I told her I wanted to make her one. My parents knew that my grandfather had taught me to craft leather items. So, I made a leather–bound wedding journal for Olivia to use to plan our wedding.
“Open it,” I urged her.
Olivia nodded, and opened it. Her eyes widened as she gasped. Under the surprise that was displayed so clearly on her face, she was grateful and in awe. She hasn’t seen the craftsman side of me yet. This was her first time really seeing, and knowing that I had made something for her. I had designed a floral pattern on the front embossed with gold leaf. Written on the front in gold leaf: “Olivia and Daniel’s wedding planner.”
“I love it. I can’t believe you made this,” she said.
“I am glad you love it. I am hoping that this will help you and me with planning our wedding. We can keep everything recorded here so we don’t forget anything,” I smiled.
