Daniel’s POV-

We arrived at the hospital, and as soon as the stretcher was pulled from the ambulance, I took Olivia’s hand again. Her hand squeezed mine, and her eyes opened just briefly. “I am right here, my queen. I am not going anywhere,” I reassured.

“Sir, I need you to step back while we check how your wife is,” the doctor said.

“I am not leaving her side,” I snapped.

“Sir, let the nurse ask you some questions while I start running basic tests,” he said.

I growled, and felt Olivia squeeze my hand. Her eyes fluttered open, with a look that said it was okay. I groaned, and pressed a kiss to her hand, “Be strong, beautiful. I will be there

soon.”

The doctors wheeled her off inside and I followed. She was wheeled to a room. I wasn’t allowed to go in until they let me. The nurse said, “Sir, I got some questions to ask you.”

“Yes, ask them quickly, so I can be with her,” I said.

She nodded, “Do you know what happened?”

“I was on the phone to her. She was complaining of a headache. I told her to drink some water. She must have stood up to cross her office to refill her glass. Then I heard the glass break, and then she said she wasn’t feeling good, and she said, “dizzy.” I heard a thud and got no response after that. Her assistant called 911. She has been responsive to my voice since I arrived with the EMTS,” I replied.

“Okay, anything we need to know about her medical history?” she asked.

“Her mother starved her for ten years. Olivia had trouble eating when she moved in with her father before her eighteenth birthday. That was five years ago. She is always eating meals. I don’t know if that is enough. I have been away for a few days and she said she was eating. But I don’t think she has been throwing up after meals. She has a very active lifestyle,” I explained.

“Did this come on suddenly?”

I nodded, “She was fine when I left.”

“You and your wife are sexually active, I take it?”

I nodded, “We haven’t been using protection for at least a year. Do you think she might be pregnant? Oh god, she fell, will she lose the baby?”

“Let me go tell the doctor this information, and we will run some tests. Take a seat in the waiting area, and we will come get you in a moment,” she said.

“Hurry please, before I break down the doors to get to her,” I said.

She nodded and hurried off. I just stood there, unable to move. I didn’t want to take a seat. I didn’t want to wait. But I knew I had to. I would just get in the way.

A few moments later, a hand came to rest on my shoulder. Gold was standing next to me, with Wolf and Allison behind him. Allison had Darren in her arms. “What do you know?”

“Nothing yet,” I said.

“How was she in the ambulance?” he asked.

“She seemed to be a little more responsive. Her eyes were opening more and she kept squeezing my hand. She can definitely hear what is going on. So, I don’t fully know what is wrong with her,” I replied.

Gold nodded, “We will just have to wait. Let’s take a seat.’

I nodded, and finally moved to take a seat. Having someone else there helped me stay calmer. I sat down, with my knee bouncing almost uncontrollably. I don’t know how long we were waiting, before I heard the roar of motorbikes coming from outside. Not a few minutes after the roar of the motorbikes died, heavy boots thundered into the hospital. Wolf called over to them, while I turned to look to where Olivia had been taken.

“Son,” my dad’s worried voice reached me.

I turned to see my parents rushing towards me. “What happened to my daughter–in–law?” Ma

demanded.

“The doctors are running tests. She looked pale and passed out. She cut her arm pretty bad from the fall. I am waiting to hear what they say,” I replied.

“She is going to be okay. Mother’s intuition,” she said.

My brow furrowed. What did she mean by that?

I fell silent, pondering what she meant by that. Time seemed to stand still while I thought about it. Did she think Olivia might be pregnant?

Before I could ask, the doors opened and the nurse from earlier came out with the doctor

who took Olivia away. I jumped up and rushed over to them. “Doctor, is my wife okay?”

“Mr Anderson–Phillips, your wife is fine. She is doing well, with the IV fluids and nutrients we have put her on. We have dressed her wounds to her arm. Most are scrapes, a few required stitches. It took so long because we were waiting for a test result to come back based on your answers and what she experienced. We would like to say congratulations, your wife is pregnant. We have told your wife, and she wanted us to bring you to her, so an ultrasound can be done,” the doctor explained.

My eyes went wide as I stammered, “I’m… I’m going to be a dad.”

Ma was sobbing next to me, tears of joy. Mike patted my shoulder. “Congrats, brother. Now go get your ass to your beautiful pregnant wife, and start treating her like the pampered queen she needs to be.”

I chuckled, “No problem there. I am going to have a fight on my hands with her.”

She has always hated it when I am pampering her a little too much. She floored me after I rushed over to check on her, when sparring got a little out of hand for her, and she got the wind knocked out of her. She has yelled at me when I tried to take a heavy box from her. I will admit that I will do that every chance I get, and that day we were moving into our house together. She got frustrated because I had already done that, well, all day long. She is stubborn about her independence.

“My daughter is a stubborn one. Go look after her and my grandbaby,” Gold smiled, patting my shoulder.

I looked at the doctor and nurse and said, “Lead the way.”

I started to follow them, and asked, “I get she is pregnant, but why did she pass out?”

Behind me, I could hear the happy conversations. Everyone was happy. I am not sure how Olivia would feel about them all knowing. But something tells me that she wouldn’t mind that much. We have talked about having a baby for a while, and I know it has been upsetting her that we didn’t conceive straight away, but sometimes it takes time.

“We will explain that when we get you to her. We need to make sure the baby is okay, and see how far along she is,” the doctor said.

I nodded, and kept following the doctor and nurse. A part of me couldn’t believe it. My queen, my Olivia, is pregnant with my baby. I am going to be a dad. I want to know how far along she is. I want to see my baby, I want to hear my baby’s heart beat. God, I want it all. I am so happy.
