Kenneth’s (Wolf) POV-

How the fuck am I staying so still? Even when my Drill Sergeant was screaming in my face during my advanced training, I never felt this angry. I want to knock Prez out for the way he was with Katie, then I want to kill that husband of hers.

Crusher raised his eyebrow at me. Did he notice my reaction? I hope not. Imagine the Prez finding out that I am obsessed with his married little sister. He would kill me.

But I can’t stay away from her.

I watched Queenie take Katie from the room, so she could be examined by Doc and Allison. Mike punched his desk and flopped down into his desk chair. Carnage rested his hands on the corners of Mike’s desk. I could see the pained expression on his face too. Katie is like a little sister to him. “No matter what Katie has been through, all we can do is be there for her. First thing we can do is get her a lawyer. She needs a divorce lawyer. Doc and Allison will document her injuries. Katie needs sleep and so does my queen,” Carnage said.

Prez chuckled, “Anyone know a good divorce lawyer?”

Carnage chuckled, “Gold’s lawyer is one of the best in the city. He might be able to help. Shall we pull him in now or early tomorrow morning?”

“Text Gold, tell him we need him,” Prez responded.

Carnage pulled his phone out and shot a text to Gold. Crusher said, “Gold is going to want to know about the threats to Queenie too. She is his daughter, and she is pregnant with his second grandchild.”

“We will fill him in when he gets here because of what we know. He will be five minutes,” Carnage responded.

“Does Katie know how to protect herself?” I asked.

Prez sighed heavily, and shook his head, “Not as well as Queenie or Phoenix. Hell, those two could level the entire club solo if they wanted to. Katie, though, our dad shielded her as much as he could. He drilled it into me that I am her big brother and I need to protect her. Did a bang–up job there, didn’t I?”

“Queenie said it best, until a victim of abuse is ready to step forward or is faced with it like she was when I confronted her, they won’t tell anyone. I can only imagine the pain she went through. Three miscarriages, because of the man who lied to her, by the sounds of it, due to a

vendetta against the Knights. But what vendetta?” Carnage asked, rubbing his facial hair.

“We have thrown a spanner in the operations of so many criminal organizations over the last few decades. There could be any number of them out to get us,” Prez replied.

“Let’s wait till Phoenix gets here, then maybe we will know what else we need to find out,” I

said.

“Speaking of Phoenix. Wolf, you are going to need to keep a close eye on Devil. I know you know about his ex that he fucked up with, who left and hasn’t been back in years. Phoenix is that woman. She, much like Queenie, is a force to be reckoned with. Phoenix was the first female member of the Knights. I don’t know what she has been doing all these years, but from what Queenie has said, Phoenix has been very cryptic about what she was doing all these years. I don’t know how Devil will react to her being back, so he may have a hard time. Keep your eyes on him, we will all have to keep our eyes on him,” Prez said.

Well, shit, that is news to me. I know Devil said he would do anything to get her back, so I do wonder how the fuck he would even achieve that. Even I know, you don’t cheat on the woman you claim to love. He crossed a line and burned a bridge he may never be able to rebuild.

“I will keep my eyes on him,” I said.

“I am sure Phoenix will probably stick close to Katie and Queenie. I am going to ask you to be Katie’s bodyguard. You make sure she doesn’t go anywhere alone, understood?” Prez asked.

I nodded, “Understood.”

I kept a straight face, even though I was excited about spending time with her. I had an open reason to follow her and watch her, and no one in the club would question it because Prez

ordered it.

Before Prez could say anymore, there was a knock on the door. Prez yelled for them to enter, the door opened and Gold entered. He closed the door behind him, and then Prez and Carnage filled him in on everything. Watching Gold’s face change from concerned to rage–filled in seconds was impressive. Gold locked eyes with Carnage, “Protect my baby girl and grandbaby. When you can’t be there for whatever reason, you get me. She is my only daughter, I have to protect her.”

“We have already agreed that if I need to do anything for the club, then I will get you and my dad to protect her. I will feel better if he is there with you, especially while she is pregnant,” Carnage responded.

Gold nodded, “Good. I will call my lawyer now, and tell him I have a divorce situation for a woman who is like a daughter to me. He will likely be able to get here tomorrow.”

“Call now, and stay in the room,” Prez said, as his phone buzzed.

He picked it up, and looked at it. Prez sighed, “Doc and Allison have examined Katie and got photos and written notes of her injuries. But they won’t share any of it with me, because she won’t give consent.”

“As is her right. You just have to trust that she will tell you when she is ready,” Carnage said.

“I am her brother, and I feel useless,” Prez groaned, rubbing his brow.

“Just be there for her. Remember how we found out about what Queenie had been through. She told us because she had to so I could help her, and she faced those who tormented her, who hurt her. Katie needs time, just be there for her, and doesn’t get angry when she reveals what she went through. She will likely reveal in an explosive moment where she gets upset and angry,” Gold said.

Prez nodded, as Gold held his finger up and started talking to someone on his phone. After a few more minutes of being on the phone, he cut it off and turned to look at Prez, and said, ” My lawyer will be here tomorrow afternoon. He will talk with Katie, privately if needed.”
