Chapter 15

Daniel’s POV-
I rushed to her side, faster than Gold. I slipped my hand into hers, interlocking our fingers. I reached out
and tucked her hair behind her ear.
As I leaned closer to her, I whispered, “Wish you would have told me sooner, my Queen. I would have
saved you sooner. We are here, all here. Your dad and I will not leave your side, not ever again. I won’t let that bastard near you ever again.”
Gold slipped his hand into Olivia’s other hand, as he sat down in a chair beside her bed. He pulled her
phone out and handed it to me. I placed it on the bedside table. My dad tapped my shoulder and placed a
chair behind me.
I sat down and moved the chair as close as I could get to her. I could see tears slipping from Gold’s eyes,
which he didn’t even bother to wipe away. I was fighting my own back, which was so hard to do, when the beautiful woman I had fallen in love with lied beaten and bruised in a hospital bed.
No one said anything for the longest time, we just waited. Waited for her to wake up.
About three hours later, Olivia’s eyes finally flickered open, before snapping shut again. I guess the dim
lights were still too bright.
“Get the nurse, let her know that Olivia woke up,” Gold said.
“Dad,” she whispered, her brow furrowed, as she squinted to search the room for him.
“I am right here, Princess,” Gold said.
Her eyes widened on him slightly, as her eyes adjusted to the light of the room. She sighed, “I am too old
to be a princess.”
Gold chuckled, “You are and will always be my princess, even when you are older and have your own
children.”
I watched as she squeezed my hand, realizing she was holding another hand, she turned to look at me.
“Carnage,” she whispered, croakily
I smiled, “You, my queen, get to call me, Daniel. Only you. Would you like some water? You sound a bit
croaky?”
She nodded slowly, so I grabbed the cup of water with a straw in it, and held the straw to her lips.
“Little sips,” I said, as she wrapped her lips around the straw
Darnn, why is that so hot? Jesus Christ, I am done for I was getting hard, watching her suck on the straw
so she could drink water. When the hell did my hormones start acting like this because I have always been
able to keep them in check?
Chaim
gulped but said nothing.
She moved away from the cup and I placed it back down, as she looked at me curiously. She was trying to
figure out what I was feeling. I shot her a wink, making her blush. I sat back down in the chair, gripping her
hand tightly. I brought her hand to my lips and kissed it. She smiled at me, before turning to look at Gold. I
glanced at him briefly, noticing that he had been glaring at me. Something told me he knew what had gone through my mind.
“Dad, what did you need? I am exhausted,” Olivia asked.
“I love it when you call me dad. But, I need to know how long has he been abusing you?” Gold inquired.
Olivia gulped and looked down at herself as she whispered, “Since I was eight years old. Harry struck me at first and verbally abused me. Then he would use any excuse he could to hit me. If I got bad grades, if I
didn’t dress appropriately, if I showed even the slightest bruise, if cooked a meal he wanted wrong. If he
thought I was getting fat, he would not let me eat. If he had a bad day at work, I would get beaten. But
yesterday was the worst, and today was in response to me running away overnight and texting him to go
to hell. He has plans for me.”
“What plans for you?” I growled.
“Force me to marry a business partner of his,” she replied.
Everything locked up, I growled again. As my blood boiled, my vision blurred red and my body began to
tremble. I could hear nothing, my breathing deepened. My grip tightened on her hand, and I didn’t even
realize that she was still holding my hand.
Until she tugged on my hand again, calling out, “Daniel.”
The moment my name fell from her lips, my entire body relaxed. The sound of her voice calling my name,
was enough to snap me out of my rage.
She tugged my hand towards her as she whispered, “Will you hold me while I try to get some sleep,
Daniel?”
I glanced up at Gold, and he chuckled, “I told you, if she likes you, then I won’t have an issue with you pursuing her. That doesn’t mean I want to see you two kissing and whatever. So, be warned.”
I noticed Olivia blushing in the corner of my eyes. I held my hands up with a chuckle, “The woman I love might be your daughter, but I will do everything I can for her, whatever that may be.”
Olivia had shuffled over, leaving me enough space to sleep on my side, as I shrugged off my cut and kicked off my boots. I climbed onto the bed, lying down on my side, putting my arm down which she laid
her head down on. She rested one arm on her stomach, while her other hand clutched on to my T–shirt.
“Go to sleep, my queen. I won’t leave your side,” I whispered, pressing my lips to her forehead.
She nodded and closed her eyes. I stared at her, until her breathing evened out, and she fell asleep.
“After everything she has been through, I am glad she feels safe with you.” Gold said to me quietly.

“She pulled me out,” I mumbled.

“Yeah, we all noticed, son. The moment it started happening, her gaze was fixed on you. It was like she
sensed the shift in you. I was ready to rip you away from her, but she called out your name, and you
snapped out of it.” Dad said, speaking quietly.
“Why do you think we always say when you know you know? Our old ladies are the same, we get angry, they sense the shift and calm us down. She could be your one.” Prez added.
“But she is my daughter, and has every right to be the club treasurer too” Gold interjected.
“I would never prevent her from being that if she wants it. All I have ever known is that she wanted to start
her own accounting firm after college.” I said.
“Even with her tech know how?” Gold gasped, surprised.
“She probably didn’t want anyone knowing about her computer skills.” I smiled down at Olivia, as she
snuggled into my chest.
The nurse came in and smiled at the sight of us. “I see she has gone back to sleep. I just need to come
and check her vitals and give her another dose of antibiotics. Then, when she is up next, we need to see if
we can get her to eat something.”
“Do you allow takeaway food to come into the hospital?” I asked.
“If it will get her eating, then yes, we will allow it.” Nurse Evan said.
“Why do you ask that?” Gold asked me curiously.
