Chapter 22

Daniel’s POV-
After taking a shower, I dressed and checked my phone. I was going to go grab some dinner and maybe get a beer with Mike. I think it was time that Mike and I sat down and had a chat. I have hidden my feelings towards Olivia from him for long enough.
When I checked my phone, I noticed a text message from Olivia.
Olivia: I am all unpacked. I actually feel at home here. I don’t think I will ever be able to thank you enough for what you have done for me, Daniel x.
Me: Lots of kisses work as a great thank you x.
That was the first text she sent me with a kiss at the end of it, and that warmed my heart. I tucked my phone in my pants pocket and headed out to the common area, where we ate and chilled together.
o
My mum was already plating up a plate of dinner for my dad when I got there. She smiled when she saw me, “You look happy for a change. It is a refreshing sight to see.”
“Thanks, Ma. Olivia was always the one I wanted. I didn’t expect I would be this happy,” I confided in her.
“That is because you truly love her, son,” Dad said to me, patting my shoulder, before looking at my mother, “Make sure you come and sit with me and eat. We have a long night ahead of us.”
He shot her a wink before walking off. Mum’s cheeks still flushed red after all these years. I rolled my eyes, shaking my head. I should probably be embarrassed by now, but let’s be honest, they have been like this my whole life, and it is honestly not the worst thing I have seen.
Mum sighed, “You do truly love her. Your dad is right on that one.”
“I know I do. I am just not sure how ready she is for me to say those three words to her,” I replied.
Mum plated dinner up for me, as she said, “Then wait until she says it because then you will know she is ready for you to say it.”
r
“I might do. I will just see how she is,” I replied, as Mum handed me a plate.
A thud sounded from across the room, all eyes snapped in that direction. Mike had slammed his phone down on the table.
My brow furrowed as my mum said, “Something is up with him. You two have been quite distant for a while now. Any reason why?”
“Mike’s now ex–girlfriend used to bully Olivia. He never stopped his ex. I wish I had told him my feelings for Olivia earlier, and maybe he would have stopped his ex–girlfriend. I reached my breaking point the other day and yelled at him about it. Everything then happened with Olivia, and we haven’t had a chance to talk it out yet. So, I am going to go sit with him and talk it out after we have finished eating,” I replied.

Mum nodded, “Go, then.”

t nodded and headed over to sit next to Mike. The moment I sat next to him, all I could hear was the incessant buzzing of his phone. Someone was calling him a lot.
“Aren’t you going to answer that?” I asked.
Mike growled and looked at me with a rage in his eyes, before he grabbed his phone, took one look at it, and threw it across the room, letting it smash against the wall. The buzzing stopped.
He sat back down and sighed, “That is better.”
“Let me guess, your ex,” I said, as I began tucking into my dinner.
“Yep, the bitch won’t back the fuck off. She tried to accuse me of being sweet on Olivia,” he chuckled, shaking his head.
I rolled my eyes, “If you were ever sweet on her, I would beat the living shit out of you, and you know it.”
“We need to talk, don’t we?” he responded.
I nodded, “We do, but let’s eat first, then we can go grab some beers and sit outside to talk. How does that sound?”
“It has been a long time since we talked over beers,” he said.
I grunted my agreement as I continued eating.
Mike was the first to finish eating and head to get some beers for us. I wasn’t far behind. When I was hungry, I could eat fast. I cleared my plate away and met up with Mike. We headed outside to the chairs that we always sat on outside.
We both sat down as Mike handed me a beer. I twisted the cap off, and took a sip. I placed it down next to me and pulled my smokes from my pocket. I lit a cigarette, before handing my lighter to Mike, so he could
ignite his own. I pulled the cigarette from my mouth and blew out the smoke.
“We have a lot to talk about,” I sighed.
[
“We do, like when the fuck did you start having a thing for Olivia?” he asked.
“First day of school. She was in these tight skinny jeans and an oversized check shirt, which was undone
quite low, so you could see her cleavage. She was staring at our bikes as she passed us by. We both
locked eyes. To me, it felt like I should have grabbed her then and kissed her. Staked my claim on her right
on that first day. But her friends distracted her, and I missed my chance,” I replied.
He stared at me before rubbing his brow, “And then Sarah started bullying her, and then I started dating
Sarah,”
“Yep, and I choose our brotherhood, our club, and you, over the one who would make me happy for the
rest of my life,” I said.

“Damn, your loyalty says it all. It makes my actions in this situation a complete and utter betrayal of you. I choose my needs over the happiness of my brother. What does that say about me?” he responded.
“A man who didn’t know, a man who doesn’t know what a man in love looks like, a man who has never been in love himself. Would you like me to go on?” I took a sip from my beer.
He shook his head, chuckling, “You are right there. But now, I know who Olivia really is and what she means to you, I have to make sure I do right by you both. That is why ! ended it with Sarah.”
“How is that going? I am guessing not good because of the phone incident,” I replied.
“I told her I was ending things with her, but she wants me back. She doesn’t want to take no for an answer because we were good together. Dana creeped into my inbox too,” he said.
“Why the hell did she creep into your inbox?” I asked.
“To see if I would fuck her. She has been so used that I don’t really want to touch her. Slept with the entire football and basketball team, or so I hear. You having eyes only for Olivia really helped you dodge a bullet there,” he chuckled.
“What can I say? You have no idea how possessive I feel over Olivia,” I sighed.
“I can imagine. Especially considering you will be her first everything. I still can’t believe she said that in
front of all our brothers earlier. I thought you or Gold might kill one or several of the guys,” Mike said as he
blew out smoke from his cigarette.
“Oh, I can. Even with every single time Sarah and Dana bullied Olivia, I could see the cold calculation and
the fire in her eyes, and even her jaw clenched so hard a few times I was surprised she didn’t crack a
tooth. Olivia has always had a fire in her, one that makes her lash out with truth and intellect. Much like
Gold,” I chuckled.
“Damn man, how much do you watch her?” he laughed.
I shrugged, “I rarely take my eyes off her if she is nearby.”
“I wish I could find a woman I feel like that with, but nothing yet. Guess I will just keep playing the field till
then,” he sighed.
