Chapter 48
Daniel’s POV-

It was hot as hell watching how Olivia handled things after church. I was impressed. I could see how proud Gold was. Though I could see the worry in his eyes and I don’t blame him. He is worried that all this might be too much for her. Not the part about her being in the Knights, but the part about her being targeted by this gun runner. I am worried about that too.
I did notice the curiosity in Olivia’s eyes, at the cryptic message Prez directed at me. I knew what he meant. Phoenix gets hit on a lot by the other bikers from the other chapters and our allies, and she is in a relationship with Devil. They all know it, but she still gets hit on. None of them dare flirt with Katie because of Prez. It is seen as a disrespect to him, if a biker hits on his daughter without prior permission to pursue
her.
A hand came to rest on my shoulder after Olivia left with Phoenix and Katie. I looked up to see Gold standing there. “Are you going to ask her?”
I rubbed the back of my neck, I have to admit I was nervous about asking her. There was no doubt in my mind that she would say yes. But the asking her part was what made me nervous. She has only been my girlfriend for nearly two weeks. I have been in love with her for far longer than that. I should have claimed her as my girlfriend three years ago, but I didn’t because of Mike dating Sarah. Asking her to be my old lady is the ultimate claim. She would be my wife in the eyes of bikers. You never mess with a Knight’s old lady. It’s the unspoken rule. I met Gold’s steady gaze, and smiled, “Yes, I will. I just want to make sure it is special for her, after everything she has been through, she deserves that.”
“When are you going to ask her?” Gold responded, trying to keep his face neutral.
“I think on Friday after the pool party the girls want to do. I will take her somewhere and ask her to be my old lady. I am not sure where I will take her yet, but I will figure that out,” I replied.
“Just don’t take her off of club land,” Prez interjected.
I nodded, “I won’t.”
“I saw how she was at the end of church. She is going to be one fierce leader for our club,” Prez
commented.
I chuckled, “I always knew there was a fire in her. One she hid from all those around her. But here with us, she can be who I always saw within her.”
Gold, Prez, and my dad chuckled. Dad patted my shoulder, “Do you have her cut ready? One that will mark her out as the future treasurer and your old lady.”
“I do have it ready.”
Mike approached me, and asked, “Do you want to go work out for a little bit?”

“Sure, we always work out for an hour after school anyway. Let’s go,” I nodded.

waved bye to Gold, Prez and Dragon, heading off with Mike to the gym at the club. Today was weights day for us, so Mike and always spot each other. Time seemed to fly by, and before we knew it we were heading for the showers.
Prez made his way straight towards Mike and I as soon as we entered the common area. “Why didn’t you tell me about this school dance? Your sister just texted me all about it and wants to go. She said she wanted to go dress shopping with Queenie. Does she have a date, or something?” His eyes fixed with fury
on Mike.
Ah, the school dance. I saw the posters getting put up around school during lunch. I had noticed Olivia staring at them. Come to think of it, I don’t think she has ever been to a school dance. But then what would I know, I avoided going to the damn things because I couldn’t go with who I really wanted to go with. Now I can. I planned to ask her tonight about it at dinner.
“The posters literally went up today. The girls are together right now, so they probably spoke about wanting to go together,” Mike replied.
I nodded, feeling my phone buzz in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw a text from Katie. It literally read: ” You better ask her.” She knew her dad probably would have spoken to us about the dance. Instead, I shot a text to Olivia to check in on her. I hate to admit it, but I hate being away from her. Prez huffed and walked off. He really doesn’t like the idea of his little girl dating. Not that Mike likes it either.
“I plan to ask Olivia to the dance,” I said to Mike.
Mike’s head snapped in my direction, his jaw dropping. The guy who never wanted to go to the school dance, because, I quote, ‘If I want to see women dance, I will go to a strip club‘, now wants to go to the
dance.”
I shoved him, and rolled my eyes, “That was horse shit and you know it. I only wanted to go to the dance with the right woman on my arm. Now, I am dating her.”
“Come on, let’s get some beers, and go sit down,” Mike said, trying to mask the guilt he felt.
He was genuinely feeling guilty for all the years of not knowing his best friend well enough to know that his best friend was smitten with a woman. I am not mad at him for it, and he knows it, but it doesn’t stop the guilty feeling he has.
We headed to get some beers, played a round of pool, before sitting on the couch in silence. I noticed Devil was talking with Emily, one of the club whore. She is always trying to get between Devil and Phoenix. It resulted in Phoenix breaking that girl’s nose more than once. Whatever Emily was saying made Devil angrier by the second. But there was also heartbreak flickering across his eyes. What is going on over
there?
Mike noticed where I was looking and sighed, “You think she is up to no good again?”
“Yep, and I have no idea what we can do. Devil said to me today that he is worried about Phoenix, because

she has been disappearing for hours upon hours each day for the past couple of weeks, and he is starting to get suspicious of her. He can tell she is hiding something,” I replied.
Devil looked pissed, as he dragged Emily towards his room. “Well shit, that isn’t going to end well.”
Not twenty minutes later, Phoenix dashed past us, heading for Devil’s room. Fuck, this was going to end badly. Before Mike or I could do anything, Katie and Olivia arrived. My eyes roamed over Olivia, trying to see what was different about her. I raised an eyebrow, as she sat down on my lap, wrapping her arms around my shoulders. I saw it peeking out on the top of her shirt. “Let me see it,” I said, glancing between Olivia’s eyes and the tattoo.
Olivia giggled, “This one you can see, but the other you will have to wait to see.”
“You got two done.” My brow furrowed as I tried to figure out where the hell the second one might be.
Olivia nodded, “I did, but this is the first one.”
