Chapter 66

Daniel’s POV-

I followed Gold into his office, watching him as he poured himself and me a glass of whiskey. He handed one to me. I stared down at the glass that now sat in my hand, wondering what the hell he was going to say to me. My gaze drifted back up to Gold, as he studied me incredulously. “Are you serious about this? You are not just doing this so we can catch him and mostly likely kill him.”

“Gold, truthfully, I want him caught and killed so she will be safe. I would have waited a year or two before

coming into this office, and asking for your blessing. Hell, if I had started dating her back when I first met her, I probably would have been here today, asking you for your blessing. But I can’t dwell on the past. I have to look to the future, and all I see is her. I know the engagement would be used as a means to draw Vargas out, but it won’t be any less real to me, to her. I will propose to her properly. In a year or two, after we have taken our time planning it, we will marry. Olivia is already my old lady, she is already my wife in our world. Doing this will make her legally my wife, and I want nothing more than that. If you are worried about your company, I will sign a prenup, but I will only ever marry her for life. She is it for me,” I spoke

calmly, never breaking eye contact.

“When people marry, they tend to want to have kids afterward, will you?” he asked.

I smiled at the thought of having kids were her, seeing her belly swell with the life of my child, made me

very happy. I took a deep breath and pushed those thoughts aside. “One day I would love to have kids with her, as many as she wants. But only when she is ready, I know she wants college and everything like that,

so I won’t push her into having kids. I know I am not going to college because, after graduating from school, my focus is here. But you also know all about my investment portfolio, the shares that I hold, you know how wealthy I am. You know I will spoil her like the Queen she is, along with any children that we have when she is ready.”

“How long have you been preparing these answers? They do seem too prepared,” he chuckled.

I chuckled, rubbing the back of my neck, “Because they are prepared. Since the day she said yes to being

my girlfriend, I started planning what I would say, and how I would respond to your questions.”

“You have been really serious about her from day one?”

I nodded, which made him nod and sigh, “Well, you have my blessing. I couldn’t think of a better man to

marry my daughter, or a better son–in–law for me. Any ideas when you will do it, or how you want to

announce it?”

“The charity bike ride. When we group together at the end to do the little charity fund–raising activities,

there are always a lot of cameras and local media. It is how the world found out. Mr Anderson, the CEO and founder, was a biker in an MC. We could use that to get the word out that she is engaged. Well, I can

propose to her, there and then, in front of all the MCs and the public,” I replied.

His eyebrows went up, but I could tell the wheels were turning. He was surprised, but you could see he

was following my train of thought. “That is Saturday, you have got roughly six days. Are you prepared for

that?”

“Honestly, not yet, but I figured while the girls are trying on dresses for the school dance, I could go to the jewelers‘ and have a look at rings. That way I don’t see the dress she picks for the school dance,” I replied.

A knock sounded on the door, and Gold called for them to come in. The door opened and in walked my dad. My brow furrowed, he said he would keep an eye on Olivia for me. Dad chuckled, “Mike is keeping an

eye on her, son. I came here to ask if you needed help choosing a ring, and when you were going to go to

choose one. You know your mother is going to ask me the moment she is told what was said in church.”

“I am going to choose a ring, while the girls are choosing dresses for the school dance. I have already

been told in no uncertain terms that I am not allowed to see her in the dress before the dance,” I replied.

“When are you popping the question?” Dad said, raising an

eyebrow

“He is going to make it a very public proposal at the charity bike ride on Saturday,” Gold responded.

Dad’s eyes snapped at Gold, as he asked, “And, you are okay with this?”

Gold paused, his eyes fixed on me for what felt like the longest moment, before he sighed and nodded, ”

Carnage has explained himself quite well. I can see how much he loves her, and how much he would do

anything for her. I can see how happy she is when she is around him. I am not going to stand in the way of

what they have. He just better not break her heart, because I will beat the shit out of him.”

“Never going to break her heart. She is mine forever,” I smiled.

Gold cracked a smile at that, before continuing, “He has my blessing. Now, go back to her, Carnage. I need to call my PR department at the office.”

Dad patted my shoulder, as we gave Gold a nod, before leaving his office, to find my mum waiting outside.

“Is it true?” she asked straight away. “You are going to pop the question to Queenie.”

I nodded, “Yes, but try not to let everyone talk about it too much, until I have actually done it.”

“Oh, I am so excited. How does she feel about it?” Mum asked.

“I don’t know yet, she sat the entirety of church staring at me. I could sense the shock. I just haven’t had a

chance to speak with her yet. I probably won’t until tonight, as she is meant to be going dress shopping

with Katie, and I need to go choose a ring,” I replied.

“You are really serious about this,” Mum questioned, though it was more of a statement.

“With everything that I am,” I said.

Mum pulled me into her arms and said, “Be good to her, you better get back to her. I will let Katie know to get ready to go.”

Dad and I nodded, and headed back to find Olivia. She, Web and CB were furiously typing away on their

computers. They were working hard. I stepped up behind Olivia, to see what she was typing. I leaned down

and whispered. “It’s time for you to go dress shopping, my queen.”

She stopped typing and hit the “enter” key on her keyboard. “Okay, I have done it. CB, I have sent it to you,

forward it to Web. Once you find him, you sss him, lure him in, and attach the virus. This is a completely new one, and he will not have a defense for it. Virus protection won’t work either.”
