I have never experienced so much love or care on my birthday. I never received any gifts or well wishes from anyone on my birthday, except Megan and Benny, before today. Today, everyone at school wished me a happy birthday, which I am sure Daniel had something to do with it. Daniel wasn’t kidding when he said he had more surprises for me. When we got to school, he presented me with another gift, which he had stashed in a bag on his bike. He handed me a box, which I opened straight away, to find a small beautiful gold watch with a thin brown leather strap. I had never really worn watches before, but he told me he

brought one because I was going to be a businesswoman and needed a high–end watch to wear during business meetings. At lunchtime, a takeaway was ordered to the school to surprise me. It was my favorite

meal. Daniel had ordered it.

By the end of the day, everyone was talking about how I was being spoiled by Daniel, some were saying that I was lucky, others were saying how jealous they were. I could hear it all as we headed out of school to get on our bikes. Benny and Megan were waiting for us outside. I knew they were going to be coming

with us, but I figured they would be traveling in Benny’s car. Boy, I was wrong.

Benny was helping Megan zip her jacket up. They were in full biker leathers, both of them. I gasped when I

saw them, “When did you learn to ride a bike, Benny?”

Benny laughed, “All my life, I just never told anyone. I mostly stuck to motocross though. My Uncle is motocross legend Red Devil. When I told him, about a month ago, that I wanted to start riding a bike every

day, he sent me this Yamaha Ninja. But you know my mum’s situation, so it’s taken a while to get everything sorted out for me to be able to ride it.”

His mum’s situation is that she is financially struggling after recently getting laid off work. Benny has been

working a couple of part–time jobs just say they can keep the house over their heads, food on the table and the cars running. She can also only work certain jobs because of her medical condition, which is

beginning to limit her movement. For that simple reason, Benny is going into full–time work rather than going into college. Megan will still go to college, she wants to be a nurse.

“Maybe you should start prospecting for the Knights. That way you and Megan get to spend all the time in

the world with Queenie,” Mike suggested.

“I need to get a full–time job after ! finish school. My mum can’t work anymore,” Benny replied.

“What are you thinking of going to do for a full–time job?” Daniel asked.

“Construction. I have always been good at building things,” Benny replied.

Daniel and Mike looked at each other, before Mike said, “He did say he was looking for a new apprentice, that he needed the extra help.”

“Who?” I asked.

Daniel chuckled. “Shovel, he owns his own construction company. He is in charge of all construction on

club land, and all the maintenance of off–site buildings owned by the club. As well as constructing off–site

buildings that he owns and leases out or sells. Shovel will be the one who would, one day, build our house,

when we have married and had kids.”

“You think Shovel would take me on,” Benny asked.

“Usually he only takes on club members, so you would likely have to prospect at the club,” Mike replied.

Benny nodded, “Introduce me before the party, and that will give me time to think about an answer to him

if he would be willing to take me on, of course.”

“We will,” Daniel smiled.

Atom called out, “Come on, you lot. Your dads want you back asap, Apparently, something is going on.”

“Did they say what?” Mike asked.

“No, they didn’t,” Atom replied.

Daniel handed me my helmet, before putting his own on and climbing on his bike. I put mine on and

climbed on the back of his bike. Benny climbed on his bike, and helped Megan get on the back of his bike.

All the bikers with us, mounted their own bikes, and we headed back to the clubhouse.

When we arrived at the clubhouse, we were all curious about what we saw at the gate. A van was parked at the gate. It looked like it was here delivering flowers. Dad, Prez and Dragon were all outside the clubhouse, talking with one of the prospects, who I guess was on gate duty. When they saw us, they waved us over straight away. “Carnage, you didn’t order flowers from them for Queenie, did you?” Prez asked.

Daniel shook his head, “You know I only order flowers from the same florist everyone in the club gets their

flowers from.”

“Who would be sending me flowers?” I commented.

“What flowers did they send?” Megan asked, as she reached my side.

Prez showed the invoice to us. There was no name, but it did say how many of each type of flower that

was in there. Three dozen Petunias and three dozen black roses. Megan growled, “Who the fuck sent you

them?”

We all glanced around at each other, they weren’t sure about how much I had told Megan and Benny about

the situation with Vargas. None of us could really say we didn’t know who it was that sent them. I think we all knew who sent them to me, but I wasn’t sure why those flowers. Megan wanted to study botany, so she

had learned a lot about the meaning of flowers. She was going to be the best person to ask right now,

about what these could mean. “Megan, what do they mean?” I asked.

“What does what mean?” Dad inquired.

“Flowers each have a meaning, if they are sent as a message. For example, red roses are usually sent to symbolize love. That’s why it’s the common flower to be brought for a date or valentine’s days. But black

rescs mean death. Petunias means anger,” Megan explained, answering my question.

She took a deep breath and sighed, “If someone sent these to you, Queenie, it means they are angry with you and are threatening to kill people. Given that they have been sent to the clubhouse, likely people from

here.”
