Chapter 76

Olivia’s POV-

I watched as the intruders were taken away to be interrogated. Daniel had pulled me closer to him. From

the moment the power went out, I was running on adrenaline, instinct, and rage. But now that the threat

was neutralized and Daniel’s arms wrapped around me, I was finally about to breathe. The rage and

adrenaline began to subside, causing my entire body to tremble. You should have gone to the safe room

like you were told to,Dad growled at me.

My attention snapped at him, as the trembling intensified. And, if I hadn’t done what I did, four men would have gotten to the safe room before any of you even realized. I wasn’t planning to come out here, I was going to go to the roof. I figured I could wound a few of them so that we could get back to my birthday party sooner. But four men were already coming down the stairs when I got there. They opened fire, and I

returned fire. I took down three of them, by the time Carnage found me.” My voice trembled slightly as I

spoke.

My queen, are you cold? You’re trembling,” Daniel whispered.

I looked at Daniel and shook my head. Dad reached up, and slowly took the gun from my hand. That was

when I noticed some of the blood on my hands. I started trying to wipe it off, smearing it all over my

hands, making it so much worse, as my hands trembled violently. Dad cupped my face and made me

meet his concerned expression. It is okay, Princess. You did good. None of us thought about covering the back or getting marksmen on the roof. We should have thought about it. I guess this is what they wanted.

They figured we would be too intoxicated to think about it. At least you were thinking clearly enough to go

there.Dad spoke calmly, softly, trying to reassure me.

Dad, why am I shaking?I whispered, finding it harder to talk. Was this what shock felt like?

It’s okay, the adrenaline is leaving you, and you are probably going into shock from being in your first

gun fight and shooting men dead. It can make most people shut down. The last woman I saw kill a man went completely comatose. But you are handling it well. Princess, go with Carnage, he will take care of you,Dad responded to me, before looking at Daniel and continuing, Take her inside, help her clean her hands up, and then get her some of that birthday cake. She needs something sweet. Then I would suggest you

two call it a night. Comfort her, distract her, do whatever you have got to do to make her feel better.

Daniel nodded, I will keep her close. Come on, my perfect Queen.

Daniel began to tug me gently back into the building. He took me into the bathroom, and whispered, You

are okay, my queen.”

His reassurance warmed my heart. He turned the taps on, poured soap on my hands and began to rub the

soap gently into my hands with his own hands. The lights came back on a few seconds later. He didn’t say a word, just focused on washing the blood from my hands and arms. I just watched him, he seemed so unfazed by the sight of blood, even though he was being so gentle. I ended up muttering, How are you so unbothered by this when you are so gentle?

He smiled softly, his gaze moving to meet mine. I am only gentle for you. I won’t lie to you, sometimes I feel nothing when I take a life. I have beaten and killed people with my bare hands. I am a violent person, and most would say I am a monster. But for you, the woman I love, I could never be a monster. That is why you are perfect for me. You are the calm to my storm, and I am the solid wall, that will protect you and hold you up when you can’t stand anymore.

I felt the tears well in my eyes. I pressed a slow and passionate kiss to his lips, full of the emotions I could not put into words, before he pulled away and returned to cleaning my hands. My eyes remained on his face, until he moved, turned the water off, and grabbed a towel, drying my hands off. Do you want to

know what I think about after I kill a man?he asked, softly.

Yes,I nodded, forcing that single word out, because I am really not sure what to say right now.

I think of all the things that man did. All the bad, and then I think about all the things he could have done if I hadn’t killed him. Those men you killed were firing at you, they could have killed you or others here. They were likely here to kidnap you, to take you away from me, from your family. You had no choice but to end them, before they ended you or took you away from here,Daniel responded, stroking my cheek.

I nodded, the trembling in my body had calmed down, but I was still trembling ever so slightly. Daniel pressed a kiss to my head and whispered, Come on, let’s get you some birthday cake and a bottle of water. Then we will head to our room. We will eat and drink, then see where the evening takes us. If I am honest, I haven’t forgotten about that surprise you mentioned earlier. Only if you are up to showing me

tonight.”

He wrapped his arm around me before leading me to the kitchen where the cake was. He cut off a couple slices of cake, and grabbed some bottles of water. Just as my dad walked in, Daniel said, Let’s go to our

room.

I nodded, and grabbed the plates he put the cake slices on and carried them towards our room. I heard my

dad ask Daniel, Is she okay?

She has been quiet, but I think she will be okay. No severe emotions, but I will keep an eye on her,Daniel replied, before chasing after me, carrying the bottles of water.

He caught up with me in no time, and we made our way to our room together. He entered the pin to unlock the door, and held it open for me. I guess the pin lock works now that power has been restored. I am going to guess that those that got inside the building via the roof, must have tripped the breaker.

I entered our room, with Daniel just behind me. He closed the door, it automatically locked. Let’s sit on the bed, eat the cake, and then we can just curl up under the covers until you are ready to talk to me,Daniel suggested.

I just nodded. I think he could tell I needed the silence right now. I am no stranger to violence, I have been left bruised and broken too many times by Harry. Yes, I have thrown punches, and been in fights. But I had yet to aim and fire my gun at someone with the intent of killing or harming. Tonight, I killed three men, and decapitated a dead man, to scare the others into surrendering.
