Daniel’s POV-

My eyes remained fixed on Olivia. God, I love how bold and brazen she had become. It has me

going rock hard every time. I am not even sure she knows she has that effect on me yet, but we have our whole lives ahead of us for her to figure that out.

Gold growled, “Why were the police here?”

“My egg donor is dead. The police were making notifications and asking questions Olivia replied.

“You should have called me, because you don’t answer questions without a lawyer present,” Gold

said.

“They were routine questions, and I pointed them in the direction of Vargas. We both know he did

this. They will be looking into him, and that will likely bring federal law enforcement to the area. Vargas will feel the pressure, and he will trip up. We will be able to catch him,” Olivia replied to her

father.

“Atom said they were asking about your alibi. That doesn’t sound routine,” Gold sighed.

“And, I told them the truth,” she replied.

Katie chuckled, “Yeah, screaming a certain fiancé’s name for hours, wasn’t that what you told the

police?”

Gold growled, “She told them, what?”

His gaze moved to mine, fury blazing in his eyes. I held my hands up, and said, “I didn’t do anything she didn’t beg me to do.”

“That’s it, I’m out. There is only so much of that I can handle, before I lose my shit. Next time the police decide to question you, Princess, you wait until your lawyer is present,” Gold said.

Prez chuckled, “Honestly, what are you going to do when she gets knocked up? That will be a daily reminder that they go at it like rabbits.”

Gold growled at Prez, as my Dad interjected, “She handled the police very well. I suspect your daughter is smart enough to know when to get the lawyers involved.”

I glanced over at Olivia, to see that she had quietly finished her breakfast. I smirked, leaning in close to her ear, “You have no idea how fucking hard you made me with the way you spoke to the police just now.”

feel like that was because she was trying very hard to mask her emotions. Olivia turned to face me. I searched her eyes for the emotions that she was trying to hide. I found it. Her mother’s death. affected her more than she was letting on. I knew she hated her mum, because her mum was cruel and abusive. I think it is the fact that her mum was killed to try and bring Olivia out of hiding. That has to be what is affecting her. She would hate for anyone to be used as bait to draw her out.

Despite Olivia’s fierceness and coldness, she is so kind and caring. That’s why I find her perfect It will mean that she will have a hard time in our world sometimes. This would be one of those

moments. I am sure there will be others. So, I will just have to be there for her when she needs me.

“Shall we go get our homework done?” I asked.

She nodded, but didn’t say anything. Gold looked between us, moved closer to Olivia, and asked, Are you okay, Princess?”

“I am okay. I just want to do my homework,” she replied, giving him a small smile.

Olivia didn’t say anything further and got up to head to our room. I sighed, watching her go. Gold

said, “Is she okay? I can tell you sense something with her. You two have a connection I can’t even

begin to understand.”

“You are right about the connection. I can tell she is not okay with him killing someone to try and

draw her out, but I don’t think the loss of her egg donor is affecting her. Your name may be Gold, but your daughter has a heart of gold. She is perhaps one of the kindest and caring people I have ever met, but she protects it with the strength, coldness, and rage that she has within her,” I told

him.

“You are mad about her, aren’t you?” Dad chuckled at me.

Mike coughed, “p***y whipped.”

I held my hands up and said, “I love my woman, and I love being inside my woman. If that makes me p***y whipped, then by all means, Mike, keep calling me it.”

Gold growled next to me, before taking a deep breath and sighing, “You better keep a close eye on her. If she is feeling guilty because someone got killed to draw her out, she could do something

stupid.”

I glanced at him and then in the direction of the room I share with Olivia. Without saying anything else, I got up and ran to find Olivia. As much as I hope that she would not do anything without us all there to watch her back, I do worry she would be driven to that point. The one thing I will not allow is for her to be driven to that point. I have to be there when it starts getting too much for her, so! can be her shoulder, her wall, her shield, whatever she needs. I just need to be there.

I punched the code in on the keypad, and opened the door. My heart raced louder than I thought it ever possible. I pushed the door open, and walked into my room. My eyes scanned the room, immediately I found Olivia. A wave of relief crashed over me, seeing her sitting at her desk, typing away on her laptop with her school book open next to it.

“Are you okay, Daniel?” she asked, looking up at me.

She probably saw my very worried expression, and had to ask if I was okay. I sighed, sitting at the end of the bed. “Yeah, your dad said something to me that had me a little worried.”

“Let me guess, he thinks, because I feel bad about the fact my egg donor was killed to draw me out, I might just be doing something stupid,” Olivia said, her head cocking to the side, as she studied me.

I nodded, “Hit the nail on the head there. A part doesn’t believe you would, because you are too smart for that, but a part of me does worry about it, because I know how kind and caring you are. In this world, people try to exploit that when they see it. I do not want you getting hurt. I have to. protect you.”

“Well, I might not be planning to do something stupid, but once I have done my homework, I am going to spend the rest of the day, destroying his life,” she replied.

“He is an international gun dealer. How do you suppose you will ruin his life?” I asked.

“CB has done a lot of research into Vargas. I am going to start there. He has to have businesses, shell companies, subsidiaries, something that at least gives him legal grounds, or legitimate businesses that he uses to hide his illegal activities. That is how I will get him, destroy his legal and legitimate interests, and all he has is his illegal. Cut them off slowly, and he will have nothing left,” she smirked, the wheels turning in her head.

“That will be a lot of work,” I commented, because it really will be a lot of work.

“I am sure CB and Web might be willing to help,” she said.

“They probably would. But to do that, I am going to make arrangements for something, so I am going to make some calls. I am not leaving your side though,” I told her, pulling my phone out of r pocket.

She picked her headphones up, and said, “I will listen to some music while I finish my homework off then.”
