The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 1

Celia Stafford was the Capital's high society's quintessential good girl. Sweet, beautiful, and completely obedient. In the eyes of others, she was a harmless, delicate wallflower.

Lately, however, she had been brewing a plan.

--

Inside the top-floor private elevator of Elysian Club, the most luxurious private establishment in the Capital.

The man stood in a perfectly tailored suit, his expression aloof. The polished, enclosed space reflected the sharp contours of his profile.

Behind him, several men bowed slightly, their faces plastered with fawning smiles, yet they were so terrified they barely dared to breathe.

"Ding—"

The elevator stopped on the first floor.

It was his first day back in the country. He had come straight from the airport to handle business, and his mood was visibly dark.

His assistant, Ken Linden, stepped forward to hold the elevator doors, his posture incredibly respectful.

"Mr. Zucker, it's getting quite late. Will you still be visiting the Stafford Family tonight?"

The first thing on his agenda upon returning was supposed to be a visit to the Stafford Villa, but business matters had delayed him until now.

Glancing down at his watch, his voice was calm and deep. "Tomorrow."

"Understood, Mr. Zucker. I'll rearrange your schedule."

With that, the man stepped out, heading toward the club's exit.

On the first-floor dance floor, neon lights flashed erratically while the deafening bass vibrated through the air. Amidst the chaotic noise, a group of men had cornered a young woman in a dimly lit section, their lewd chuckles cutting through the music.

"I'm sorry, I don't want anything to drink. My family is here to pick me up."

Celia's voice trembled with fear. She was trapped against the wall by several burly men. Dressed in a pristine white dress, she kept her head down, her eyes rimmed with red, trying desperately to maintain her composure.

"Come on, sweetheart, that's the oldest excuse in the book. It's just a drink with the boys, don't be shy..."

"No, I'm his—"

"Miss," Ken's tone grew colder. "Our CEO has no interest in who you are."

Without sparing another glance at the girl's expression, Ken turned to follow his boss toward the door.

Tears welled up in Celia's eyes as she watched him walk away. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the furious blonde thug closing in on her from behind.

Summoning every ounce of her courage, she shouted at the man's broad, retreating back, "Alistair Zucker!"

The custom-made leather shoes stopped in their tracks. The man furrowed his brow slightly and finally turned to look at her.

Her eyelashes were soaked with tears, the pure white dress outlining a delicate, graceful silhouette. She was petite, and amidst the chaotic neon glow of the club, her eyes were as clear and bright as stars.

Alistair's gaze was piercing and icy. He gently rubbed his thumb against his index finger—a habitual gesture when he was thinking.

The garish club lights couldn't mask his commanding presence; his cool, piercing eyes revealed absolutely no emotion. He radiated a noble, untouchable aura. It wasn't an arrogant facade, but the genuine, deep-seated detachment of a man who had long stood at the apex of power.
