Chapter 159 All Lies
The kidnapper pressed a knife against her neck.
Larissa smirked coldly in her mind, though her face showed fear, and her body trembled slightly.
After the car had driven for a while, it stopped at an abandoned factory.
The kidnappers dragged her out and pushed her into a dilapidated room.

Inside, Jettson was standing there smugly. Seeing Larissa brought in, he crossed his arms and sneered, “Larissa, I really underestimated you.
“You’re still trying to compete with Julia after leaving the family, huh? You won’t be able to participate in tomorrow’s competition.”
Larissa’s chest tightened with a bitter pang. She did not expect him to be behind this. She looked at Jettson with disappointment, “You think this will make me quit the competition?”
Jettson snorted coldly.
‘When you’re not at the competition tomorrow, everyone will assume you chickened out because of Julia and gave up.
‘Just wait to be kicked out of Marcrest High.”
Larissa thought back to all the times she had given her all for him, her heart burning with resentment. She couldn’t understand why he would do this to her.
‘I’ve always wondered. I was the one who chose you and your brother to join the family.
‘Before I was ten, we were close,
‘Why did you keep targeting, bullying, and framing me for Julia?
‘Now, you’re even committing crimes for her sake.
‘What did I ever do wrong?
‘I treated you like a brother and cared for you, so why are you treating me this way?”
In her past life, she had never figured out why.
She met them first, gave them her genuine effort, and yet they despised her.
“Why? People are selfish.
“Everyone wants to climb higher.
“We just didn’t want to go back to the orphanage, living under constant abuse, starving, and freezing.
“You were just a fake heiress.

“And a fake will always be a fake. You can never give us a better life.
“Eventually, the truth proved we were right.
“By flattering Julia, we could stay in with the Turners and get treatment like kings.
“You, Larissa, made the biggest mistake–leaving the Morris family and still trying to compete.
“Larissa, you had no right–none whatsoever–to leave the Turners and still try to compete with Julia.
“I won’t harm you. I’ll let you go after tomorrow’s competition.”
Larissa’s mind spun. Could it really be that simple?
“So all those years before I turned ten, the reason you were nice to me was just to stay in the household? You were pretending to flatter me?”
She had always cherished those early memories deeply. Even when they later wronged her, she never really blamed them.
She had always thought maybe they were deceived, or maybe they had grievances.
Or maybe they were forced, or maybe they didn’t intend to hurt her.
She had truly treated them like family, so that was why she didn’t want to believe they could truly harm
her.
Jettson sneered, “Of course, it was an act.
“That was the first time Russ and I had seen such a big house, worn such fine clothes, and eaten such delicious food.
“We didn’t want to be sent back to the orphanage to fight over scraps, so we flattered you.
“As long as we made you happy, we wouldn’t be sent away.
“Then, Julia appeared. When we realized she was the real heiress and the one who could decide whether we stayed, our flattery shifted to her.”
