Chapter 230 Back on the Track
Johnny clenched his fists. His eyes burned with anger as he glared at them.
The investor didn’t look happy about it, but he had no choice but to speak.

“I didn’t expect Carter to win this race,” he announced. “His performance just now was impressive. A bet is a bet. Johnny lost. From today on, the benefits that belonged to Johnny will go to Carter. Johnny will be in charge of washing the cars.”
Johnny froze. He couldn’t believe they were really giving up on him.
‘You’ve gone too far!” he shouted. “This isn’t over. Just wait.”
He stormed off in a rage.
As Carter heard the announcement, his heart pounded with excitement. Finally, he could return to the racetrack.
Larissa looked at him and smiled. “Carter, you were amazing! I knew you could do it.”
Duchess cheered loudly beside her.
The club manager walked over with a wide smile.
‘Mr. Sowle, from now on, you’ll be our key driver. The team’s resources will focus on you.”
Carter nodded politely. “Thank you.”
The other team members knew Johnny was finished. And with Thea supporting Carter, he was sure to take Johnny’s place.
One by one, they came over to apologize.
‘Carter, I’m sorry. I was wrong before. Please forgive me.”
‘I didn’t know you were this good. I’ll never call you useless again.”
“I was blind before. I said many hurtful things. I promise it won’t happen again. Please forgive me.”
“Carter, your driving is incredible. From now on, you’re my idol. I’ll personally take care of your race car
Carter still looked quiet and distant, as cold as ever. But something about him had changed.
He gave them small nods, accepting their apologies.
This was how the world worked.
As long as he stayed here, he had to deal with people.

Since they were willing to make peace, he wouldn’t hold on to the past.
But he would never see them as friends.
They were just people who followed whoever had power. Not worth his time or energy.
After everything settled, the crowd slowly left.
Only then did Carter look at Larissa. “Thank you.”
Thank you for coming. Thank you for standing up for me. Thank you for believing in me.
Larissa glanced at the time.

“You’re my brother. We’re family. You don’t have to thank us. It’s time for you to clock out. Let’s go get dinner.”
After the excitement faded, she suddenly realized something. They had known each other for less than a day. Now that things had quieted down, it felt a little awkward.
“Okay. Wait for me. I’ll go change. I’ve got a small gift for you. Just give me a few minutes.”
Carter ran off quickly.
Duchess watched his back with bright eyes.
“Boss, your brother is impressive. He’s handsome and full of personality. I really like him!”
Larissa raised an eyebrow. She rarely saw Duchess act like this.
“Oh? Are you falling for him? I thought you wanted him as a big brother.”
“Well, I don’t mind having a boyfriend like him,” Duchess said with a grin. “I like guys like him. Broad shoulders, lean waist. A little wild, a little dangerous. He ignores everyone, but he’s gentle to the people he cares about.”
She leaned closer and whispered excitedly.
“He’s cold to everyone. But when he talks to you, his voice softens. It even drops a few tones. And just because I’m your friend, even though he looked awkward, he still played along when I called him. He was
much nicer to me too.”
