Chapter 446 Side Story: Beating Them at Their Own Game (Part One)
Leonard’s face tightened with worry. He turned to Larissa.
Larissa stayed perfectly calm.
“Grandpa, don’t panic. This is the normal reaction. That pill is going to extend your life. When this wave of heat passes, your body is going to be stronger than it’s been in years.”
Sure enough, a few minutes later, a strong, unpleasant odor filled the room, and the heat began to recede from Truman’s body. He felt clear-headed, lighter. Like he’d shed a decade.
Truman stared at her in open amazement. He had actually grown visibly younger.
His body felt lighter, more agile.
A pill this extraordinary actually existed in the world.
The Longevity Pill.
Capable of taking 10 years off a man.
Who wanted to die when they could live like this?
He had at least 10 more good years ahead of him.
He could genuinely enjoy himself.
He looked at Larissa with fresh eyes. “Larissa. You keep surprising me. This pill is nothing short of miraculous. Thank you.”
Larissa’s expression stayed steady. “It’s a gift in return.”
Since he hadn’t let his judgment rot with age, she was willing to gift him a piece of genuine good fortune.
Hazel, meanwhile, was in stunned shock.
How was this possible?
t defied science.
She stared at Larissa.
Who was Larissa, actually?
How was she this capable?
She completely outshone her.
No wonder the old man was so taken with her.
Hazel had to get rid of her, and fast.
Leonard’s face was the picture of pride.
It seemed to him his precious daughter was warming to him more by the day.
She’d actually agreed to come here, just for his sake, and play nice with Truman.
“I don’t believe for a second that she holds no grudge against us. She’s just better at hiding it.”
Leonard was reassured, but not fully. “Larissa, be careful. I can’t stand the thought of you in danger. Let me have your brothers take turns watching over you. That’s the only way I’ll be able to sleep.”
Larissa nodded. “Don’t worry, Dad. Nelson has some free time lately. He can stay close to me.”
Meanwhile, Hazel got home and smashed half her bedroom apart in fury. “Larissa. Don’t get too comfortable. I’m not going to let you enjoy any of this.”
Her eyes narrowed. A vicious plan was slowly forming in her mind.
If that formula was valuable enough, she was going to take it from Larissa by any means necessary.
And once she had the formula, she would be the one everyone called the Wonder Doctor.
She wanted the Sowle inheritance. She wanted the formula.
She had to admit Larissa was genuinely impressive.
No wonder her father had lost to her. It made sense.
But Hazel’s own methods were sharper than her father’s had ever been.
Larissa. We’ll see.
And at that thought, the frenzy in her movements suddenly stilled.
She picked up the phone and ordered a full investigation into Larissa’s life.
