Chapter 57 Leverage and Sacrifice
When Morris first saw the video, he felt a small stab of guilt.
It turned out he had wronged Larissa.
But the guilt only lasted a moment.
After all, she wasn’t his biological daughter.

He had never lived through what she went through, so he couldn’t truly understand Larissa’s pain or grievances.
Now, what he regretted most was adopting her in the first place.
In his mind, she was ungrateful.
She knew this video would make Turner Group’s stock price drop, yet she still released it.
To him, it felt like she was making trouble on purpose.
He should never have taken her in all those years ago.
When he thought about the hatred in her eyes, his temples throbbed.
Just then, his phone rang. It was his father, George Turner.
“Morris, what’s that video online supposed to mean?”
George sounded mad.
“Was it that brat’s doing? Adopted kids are still adopted kids. No matter how you raise them, they’re never truly family. She holds grudges over small things. She just can’t stand when we are doing well. She’s trying to ruin us. I don’t care what you do. Fix this immediately.”
George was panting tiredly by the time he finished.
“Dad, I already have a solution. Don’t worry. Please focus on your health,” Morris said, trying to calm him.
“Good. As long as you know how to handle it. If necessary, anything can be sacrificed. You understand what I mean, right? Since Larissa did this, she clearly left us no way out. Don’t bother showing her any mercy.”
Morris hung up, feeling lost.
He understood what his father meant. He was ready to sacrifice Larissa.
There were two options.
If Larissa cooperated and claimed the video was fake, the problem would disappear. That was the best
outcome.
If she obeyed, everything would be easier.

But there was another option.
Years ago, when Larissa was eleven, Priscilla hired a violin teacher for her–Kaleb Delgado.
Back then, Larissa was eager to please everyone. That violin teacher had done many perverted things to her.
At the time, Morris didn’t believe Larissa would behave in a slutty way. But after he saw the video, he convinced himself it was true.
From that moment on, he stopped caring about her. He felt disgusted whenever he thought about it.
He still had that old video saved on his old computer.
If Larissa refused to cooperate, he could use it to threaten her.
Morris clenched his jaw and dialed Larissa.
She answered quickly. Her voice was calm and cold. “Mr. Turner. What do you need?”
“Larissa, take that video down. If you cooperate, I won’t bring up the past.”
Morris tried to sound calm.
“Let bygones be bygones?” Larissa let out a cold laugh. “Why would you think I’d help you? Have you forgotten how you treated me back then? The truth is out now. You wronged me. I didn’t start that fire.
“If I hadn’t been lucky enough to crawl out alive, Julia would be a murderer. You personally sent me to Ravenmind Island for five years. If I hadn’t been strong enough to survive, I would’ve died there.
“After I came back, Julia jumped into the water herself, and you still blamed me.
“All these years, I never started trouble with Julia. But every time she got hurt, you blamed me. You insulted me. Mr. Turner, don’t you owe me an explanation?”
Even now, Larissa’s heart still ached.
