Still upset from her clash with Chase the night before, Katrina invited a few society ladies over first thing in the morning for a game of cards.

Dressed in jewelry and designer pieces, she looked every bit the part. With Mercer Group thriving in recent years, she’d built quite a reputation among the upperclass circle. After all, she had stood by Chase through hard times, helping him rebuild from nothing. Combined with her polished manners and careful image, she had carved out a comfortable place for herself.

By the time she arrived, three of the women were already gathered in the Mercer family’s entertainment room.

Katrina wore a white lace dress that highlighted her slim figure.

One of the women glanced at her and said with a smile, Mrs. Mercer, didn’t sleep well last night?

Katrina hadn’t slept well at all, thanks to Chase. But in front of them, she kept up appearances. With a shy smile, she replied, Not reallybut I’m used to it.

The way she said it, paired with her expression, left plenty to the imagination.

Another woman, around thirty, chimed in, Mr. Mercer is young and successful. Men his age tend to have a lot of energy. Honestly, I envy you, Mrs. Mercerafter all these years of marriage, you two are still so close.

Katrina flushed slightly at that.

Across the table, a striking woman in her midtwentieswho had never gotten along with Katrinacasually picked up her cards and said, Lack of sleep doesn’t always mean Mr. Mercer’s keeping you busy. Could be something bothering you, right, Mrs. Mercer?

The remark hit a nerve, and Katrina’s smile faded a little.

Ms. Rossi, you always have to make snide comments, another woman cut in. Mr. and Mrs. Mercer are clearly devoted to each other. Why are you so bitter about it?

She spoke up for Katrina, partly because Mercer Group held real influence in their circle. No one wanted to offend Katrina.

Except Bianca, that fool. She relied on her youth and looks to cling to a wealthy older man. Since she couldn’t get Chase’s attention, she took every chance to needle Katrina.

Among the group, Bianca was the least respected. The only reason she was invited at all was because of the powerful man backing herthey kept her around to maintain appearances.

Katrina responded coolly, Well, Ms. Rossi seems to prefer more mature men. They may have their charm, but not always the stamina. So I suppose you wouldn’t understand my situation.

Her words were polite on the surface, but the meaning was clear.

Bianca chased after older menbut how much energy could they really have? If they couldn’t satisfy her, it was no wonder she kept taking shots at Katrina.

Under normal circumstances, Bianca would’ve snapped the moment she heard something like that. But today, she only smiled, her tone loaded with meaning. It’s true, though. Mr. Mercer wasn’t home last night, was he? Mrs. Mercer, you must’ve been so upset you couldn’t sleep at all.

The fact that Bianca knew Chase hadn’t come home made Katrina’s expression darken instantly. Still, she forced herself to stay composed. Ms. Rossi, what exactly are you implying?

What, you haven’t seen the news this morning?Bianca said lightly. Mr. Mercer was spotted

than leaving The Onyx Club last night with a woman in his arms. She looked younger you- and with quite a figure. Men are all the same. Five years into a marriageYou really think they won’t stray? You’d better keep an eye on him, Mrs. Mercer.

At the mention of the news, Katrina’s smile finally broke. She grabbed her phone, and there it wasChase, holding a curvy young woman as they walked out of The Onyx Club.

There weren’t just photos. There was a video.
