“Well…” Nina hesitated, putting on a conflicted expression.

Realizing she’d come on too strong, Cecilia softened her tone. “There’s no rush. You’ve only just come back, after all. But you can rest easy–Chase’s heart belongs to you. If you marry into

our family, he’ll give you the grandest wedding, and I’ll treat you like my own daughter.”

At the end of the day, she’s just a driver’s daughter. Crude, barely educated, and not even that pretty. How could she possibly compare to you?”

Hearing her own mother–in–law speak of her like that, Katrina clenched her fists.

Nina only smiled faintly.

She’d heard these words before, in her previous life.

Only back then, Cecilia hadn’t said them quite this way.

You can raise him from now on. He’s still young. Treat him well, and when he grows up, he’ll see you as his real mother.”
