The moment Nina stepped out of the car, she saw Grey Group employees lined up at the entrance to welcome Jensen.
At the front, the manager, Howard, hurried over. “Mr. Grey, we heard you’d be coming to inspect the branch. It’s an honor. All staff are present today, just waiting for your instructions.”
Jensen frowned. His secretary spoke up from the side, “Didn’t Mr. Grey make it clear? No need for this kind of display.”
Seeing that Jensen was genuinely displeased, Howard’s expression shifted instantly. He was about to explain himself when Jensen cut him off. “Forget it. Don’t let it happen again.”
Only then did Howard wipe the sweat from his temple in relief.
He’d assumed Jensen was just being polite–after all, what leader didn’t enjoy a bit of ceremony?
Now sticking close behind Jensen, Howard quickly dismissed the reception staff at the
entrance.
Inside the Grey Group offices, employees moved briskly about, busy with their work.
A few female employees couldn’t help sneaking glances at Jensen.
He was handsome, powerful, and came from an elite background–the very image of a commanding CEO.
What woman wouldn’t be drawn to someone like that?
“Wasn’t Mr. Grey supposed to be doing an inspection today? Who’s that woman with him?”
“She’s wearing sunglasses–I can’t tell who she is. But look at that figure… could she be his mistress?”
“Wait, isn’t Mr. Grey engaged?”
Their whispers quickly reached Nina’s ears.
She gave a light cough, a subtle warning.
From this distance, she could hear them clearly–there was no way Jensen couldn’t.
What kind of hires did this branch even have? Fresh grads with no sense of discretion?

“Back to your stations, all of you! Who told you to stand around chatting?” Howard snapped, immediately sending the women back to their desks.
Just then, a voice carried out from the conference room.
“I said, I’m not satisfied.”
The voice was familiar. Nina’s eyes immediately shifted toward the room.
“Who’s in there?” she asked.
Howard replied, “Mr. Mercer from Mercer Group. We worked with them on a project before. He’s here today to review the final results.”
Is Chase working with Grey Group?
Then again, Linholt’s Grey Group was only a subsidiary. It wasn’t unusual for Chase to fund a project through them.
Soon, Chase’s voice rang out again from inside. “This is the proposal your Grey Group came up with? You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“Mr. Mercer, we’re very sorry. We can redo it.”
“No need! What you’ve made is completely unusable. Just follow the contract and pay the penalty.”
Nina let out a small laugh at the commotion.
“Sounds like Mr. Mercer has quite the temper.”
She could hear everything clearly from outside, let alone everyone else.
It was obvious–Chase was taking out his frustration over the birthday banquet on Grey Group.
Bang!
The conference room door was shoved open, and Chase strode out.
The moment he looked up, he spotted Nina standing beside Jensen. His expression froze. “Nina?”
Before he could show any hint of pleasure, Jensen spoke coolly, “Mr. Mercer, since you’re dissatisfied with Grey Group’s work, I suggest you find someone else. There’s no need for us to collaborate again.”

Chase let out a cold laugh. “Seems Grey Group’s capabilities are nothing special. I’m just telling the truth. No need to get defensive, Mr. Grey.”
The tension between the two men tightened instantly.
Nina spoke up, “Jensen’s right. If Mr. Mercer isn’t happy working with Grey Group, it’s better for both sides to part ways. Don’t you think, Jensen?”
Seeing how close Nina stood to Jensen, her hand looped around his arm, Chase’s face darkened at once.
Jensen glanced down at her hand on his arm, then said in a low voice, “See Mr. Mercer out.”
“Yes, Mr. Grey.”
Howard quickly stepped in front of Chase. “This way, Mr. Mercer.”
