“Wow, thanks for the pep talk.”
Nina brushed his hand off. “But right now, my focus is my career–not finding a man.”
If there was one thing she’d learned the hard way in her last life, it was this: she wasn’t making the same mistake twice.
Who says a woman has to get married? She could live just fine on her own.
“Speaking of your career,” Caleb said, raising an eyebrow, “are you really planning to come back here and make a splash? Become a top actress?”
Nina gave him a look. “I walked away from all my resources abroad to come back here and start over as an actress–does that sound like something a sane person would do?”
“Then what are you planning? Don’t tell me you’re going to take over the Tann family business. Mr. Tann’s still alive, you know.”
“Watch your
mouth!” Nina smacked the back of his head. “Anyway, I’m not going into the entertainment industry, and you’re keeping that to yourself. If you let anything slip in front of my parents, I’ll strangle you.”
She tried to sound intimidating, but it had zero effect on Caleb.
“Alright, alright, I won’t say a word,” he said quickly. “Not a word.”
Early the next morning, Nina was called in to see Marvin and Esther.
Marvin looked serious. “Caleb said you’re not going to be an actress anymore. What’s going on?”
Esther added, “Nina, did someone give you a hard time? You can tell us.”
Seeing how worried they were, Nina shot a look at Caleb.
He shifted uncomfortably. “Don’t look at me… I was just trying to help…
In just a year abroad, Nina had blown up online and become a household name. If she’d stayed, she could’ve easily become a sought–after presence on the international red carpet. Even if she came back and started over at home, her talent alone would’ve carried her far.
But now she was saying she wanted out altogether. Of course, her parents were concerned.

Realizing she couldn’t keep it under wraps anymore, Nina said, “Mom, Dad, I just think being in the entertainment industry is exhausting. I’d rather learn how to manage a company. I studied finance and economics overseas, so I could actually help out.”
That seemed to ease them a little.
“If you’re tired, then don’t do it,” Marvin said. “Our family isn’t short on money. Even if you never worked a day in your life, we could still support you.”
Esther nodded. “That said, Nina, it’s important for a woman to have her own career. If you really want to learn business management, Jensen could teach you.”
At the mention of Jensen, Nina waved her hands quickly. “No, no–there’s no need to trouble him-”
“It’s no trouble.”
Jensen’s calm voice came from behind her.
Nina turned, startled. She hadn’t even noticed when he walked in.
“It’s just basic company management,” he said. “Mr. Tann, Mrs. Tann, don’t worry. I’m more than capable of teaching her.”
He agreed so easily that Nina couldn’t hide her surprise.
Just yesterday, he’d clearly wanted to keep his distance from her. And now he was offering to teach her?
Esther nodded, reassured. “With you guiding Nina, Marvin, and me can relax.”
That afternoon, Nina went with Jensen to Grey Group’s Linholt branch.
