Chapter 170 Seeking Financial Support
“We’re here, sir.”
Kent pulled up right outside the restaurant.
Nina got out of the car, then walked into the dining place a step behind Jensen.
Staring at this restaurant, Nina sank into deep thought.

Back in their senior year of high school, their ride would always pass by this spot after class. She would never fail to glance this way every single time.
It was not that she craved the food here, but her past self had absolutely loved this restaurant, so she could not help looking over frequently.
She stole a glance at Jensen beside her, telling herself it was just pure coincidence that he chose this place for dinner.
“What would you like to eat?” Jensen asked casually.
Nina answered without thinking, “Their filet mignon tastes amazing.”
Jensen lifted his eyes to look straight at her.
His gaze made her feel flustered all of a sudden. “I came here once to eat after you left town.”
“Is that so?” Jensen spoke in a calm tone. “I even thought you snuck back into the country just to dine here over the years.”
Nina could barely force a smile.
She had never set foot in this restaurant again after her rebirth. Yet his words made it sound as if he had been keeping close tabs on her all along.
“Two servings of filet mignon, plus foie gras with red wine sauce and creamy corn soup.”
He handed the menu over to the waiter. “Take her order for anything else.”
The waiter nodded and turned to Nina. “Miss, would you like anything more?”
Nina shook her head. She was already full from all the snacks earlier and had no appetite at
all.

She looked across the table at Jensen. “I have something I want to ask you.”
“Go ahead.”
“I heard Grey Group plans to step into the real estate business recently, is that true?”
“That’s right.”

“A friend of mine runs a firm with a development project. Would you be interested in getting involved?”
“I’m not interested.”
Jensen did not even bother to lift his head while speaking.
“I see.” Nina dropped her gaze disappointedly.
After a moment of silence, Jensen finally softened his stance. “What kind of project is it exactly?”
“It’s a land development plan in the new urban district. They just lack a little extra capital to keep it going.”
The moment he heard about the new urban district, Jensen frowned. “Don’t tell me this friend of yours is the one in charge of The T Company.”
“Of course not. How could I possibly know their boss? This friend is someone I met overseas. She just started an internship at The T Company after coming back. Her supervisor said landing an investor would get her a formal full–time position.”
“Is this friend really someone else, or is it you yourself?”
Jensen saw right through her lie without hesitation.
“I’ll consider lending a hand if it’s you. I won’t get involved if it’s anyone else.”
He left no room for bargaining.
Nina kept a straight face and gave in. “Fine, it’s me. I’m currently working as an intern at The T Company.”
“What’s your position there?”
“I’m just a regular assistant.”

Jensen glanced up at her in disbelief. From her elegant dressing style to her graceful bearing, every detail screamed wealthy young heiress. There was no way the head of The T Company would let someone of her status work as a plain assistant.
Sensing the doubt in his eyes, Nina explained quickly, “I took this job purely to gain some real–world experience. I only planned to stay a few months before quitting, but I ran straight into this tough problem right after I joined.”
“The T Company has seen great development in this city these past few years. They even bought up the whole new urban zone that everyone else thought held no potential. They truly have sharp business vision.”
“You’re just trying to say their boss made a terrible call, aren’t you?”
It was not only Jensen who thought so. Every local business partner shared the same opinion. That was why no one had stepped forward to invest in the district even after an entire month had passed.
A big part of Nina’s reason for coming back was precisely to secure funding for this project.
The T Company had earned steady profits over the past three years, but the new district development required an enormous amount of capital. Pouring such a huge sum into the project all at once would leave the firm severely short of liquid funds.
The whole plan had been put on hold ever since. If she could win support from the Grey family, the project would surely get back on track smoothly.
