Kent had just stepped in with drinks in hand, and he instantly sensed the tense awkward vibe between the two.

Jensen spoke plainly, “Take Ms. Tann to the lounge next door.”

“Right away, sir.” Kent shot Nina an apologetic look. “This way please, Ms. Tann.”

“If you have no intention of teaching me, just say so. I’ll leave right now.” Nina wore a stern look and made to head for the door.

Yet Jensen stopped her. “You chose to learn corporate management yourself. No one else in this city dares teach you these skills except me.”

Nina fell speechless. She already ran The T Company, and learning management was merely an excuse to step away from the entertainment industry. Still, she worried Jensen might mention this matter to her parents and get her lectured endlessly, which would also hold her back from taking charge of Tann Group in the future.

On the other hand, if she truly studied under him, her father would feel far more assured handing company projects over to her later on.

“Fine, I know I can’t win against you. I’ll wait for you in the side lounge.” She turned and walked out of the office on her own.

Kent could not help but speak softly, “Sir, Ms. Tann seems quite upset.”

Jensen glanced at him sharply. “Never bring her into my private office without my permission from now on.”

“I understand, sir.”

“Get out.”

Kent hurried out of the room at once.

Jensen walked over to his desk and flipped the upside–down photo frame right side up. Inside was an old picture of him and Nina. In the photo, he was lowering his head reading a book, while Nina showed half her face and took a playful selfie using his phone.

He stared at the photo in silence for a moment, then tucked the frame away inside his desk drawer.

Over in the lounge, Nina checked the time on her wristwatch. His meeting had dragged on nearly till noon. She stood up impatiently,

“He clearly has no desire to teach me, yet he keeps me waiting here wasting my time. I’ve got plenty of things to do, I’m leaving.”

She was ready to leave, but Kent tried to calm her down.

“Ms. Tann, Mr. Grey didn’t have any meetings scheduled for today at first. He only got tied up all of a sudden due to urgent matters happening over in Halmont. Please don’t be in such a hurry. Let me get you some pastries.”

“No need.” Nina shook her head. “I’ve been sitting here for over an hour already. I’ve had five cups of coffee and three servings of snacks. I’m way too full to eat lunch now.”

“If you’re skipping lunch, I’ll have someone cancel the reserved dining spot right away.”

Just as she finished speaking, Jensen pushed open the lounge door. He looked at her, who was all set to leave.

“I’m sorry for keeping you held up by sudden company issues. Let me treat you to a nice meal to make up for it. Will that satisfy you?”

His sincere tone eased most of Nina’s anger. “Your apology sounds genuine enough. I’ll reluctantly accept it.”

Jensen turned to Kent. “Go get the car ready.”

“Yes, sir.” Kent left quickly.

Nina noticed the dark circles under his eyes and knew he hadn’t gotten proper rest these past few days.

Inside the car, she broke the silence.

“Halmont is where your company headquarters lies. You left the main base to develop business here. Don’t you feel stretched too thin handling work from afar?”

“This city holds great potential. I came here precisely to push the company to new heights.”

“Are you planning to stay here for good then?”
