Chapter 231 Unexpected Guest Breaks In
Before she could sort out her thoughts, she heard noises coming from the kitchen downstairs.
She opened her bedroom door and spotted Jensen cooking.
“You’re making breakfast?”
“Lunch.”
Nina froze and glanced at the wall clock. It was already half past eleven.
“About last night…”
“You drank too much and headed upstairs on your own.”
“I did that by myself?”
“Did you expect me to carry you upa”

Faced with his cool gaze, Nina let out an awkward laugh. “Right, you must have gone to bed early back then.”
Jensen set the dishes on the dining table. There were three simple home-style dishes: baked honey garlic chicken ribs, cheesy scrambled eggs with bell peppers, and a plain sautéed zucchini.
Nina sat across from him, subtly pulling her chair back a little to keep some distance.
Jensen caught the small movement. “You can sit closer if you want. I won’t reach for you anyway.”
Nina lowered her head and

“I just never bother to cook often.”
“I booked you a flight ticket back to Linholt for tomorrow.”
“What?” Nina frowned. “I never said I wanted to leave.”
Jensen kept his eyes fixed on his food. “This place is too dangerous for you. Stay one more day then leave. Kent will drive you to the airport.”

“If you don’t want your parents to find out you came here to secure business deals for The T Company, you’d better head back soon. Crossing Julian is never a wise move.”
She was about to speak when someone knocked sharply at the front door.
Jensen put down his coffee mug and opened the door. Audrey burst straight inside the moment she saw him.
“Audrey!”
His expression darkened instantly. Audrey spotted Nina right away and raised her hand angrily, ready to lash out.
“Stop that!”
Jensen grabbed her wrist to hold her back. Audrey glared fiercely. “Jensen, are you actually defending her?”
“I said stand down.”

He pulled the two women apart. Audrey pointed straight at Nina, filled with rage. “My brother told me you had another woman staying here and I refused to believe it! I’m your fiancée. How could you let another woman live alone with you? Do you have any regard for my dignity at all?”
She pushed Jensen aside roughly. Nina stepped forward to speak, “Ms. Beaumont, didn’t your brother tell you he kidnapped me last night?”
“That’s total nonsense. My brother would never do such a thing.”
“He was the one who summoned Jensen to rescue me late at night. Jensen only let me stay here fearing your brother might harm me again. Besides, I’m leaving town tomorrow, so I’m no threat to you in the slightest.”
Audrey was completely stunned by her words, unsure if her brother would really do that.
“Is everything she said true?” She turned to look at Jensen.
He replied in a cold tone, “I suggest you get your facts straight before throwing a fit. The Tann family did me a huge favor, and Nina is a close friend of mine. I don’t want to see such messy scenes happen again. Do you understand?”
Audrey knew she was in the wrong, yet she still refused to back down. “Even if my brother

did kidnap her, he only did it to test your true feelings for her! I won’t tolerate any vague ties between you and other women now that we’re engaged! Who knows what went on between you two here alone last night. Can you honestly say your feelings for her are completely pure?”
Nina tried to cut in, but Jensen interrupted her flatly.
“You’re right. My feelings for Nina have never been purely platonic. Haven’t you known that all along?”
