Cecilia bustled off to make coffee, but Nina stopped her with a smile. “There’s no need, Mrs. Mercer. I’m not here for Chase this time–I came to see you.”

“Me?” Cecilia looked puzzled.

Nina glanced at the man beside her. “This is Preston, a lawyer from Tann Group. We’re here to discuss a share buyback.”

“A share buyback?”

Cecilia’s heart skipped, a flicker of unease crossing her face.

Was Nina here to take their money?

Nina continued smoothly, “My father heard that Mercer Group has been under some pressure lately. Since you still hold shares in Tann Group, he asked the lawyer to come over and offer to buy them back at a favorable price. It would help ease your situation as well.”

Watching her earnest expression, Nina couldn’t help but sneer inwardly.

She’d known Cecilia would shamelessly ask for another loan.

She pressed on, her voice thick with emotion. “I know Chase was ungrateful before, but I’ve already scolded him. You can rest assured–there’s only one daughter–in–law I recognize, and that’s you. When you and Chase get married, you’ll be like my own daughter. The Mercer and Tann families will still be one family!”
