I sat on the cold marble edge of the tub, fingertips curled against the rim while steam wrapped around my skin. Atila was on the other side, stretched out in the water like he owned it-arms draped along the edges, dark hair soaked, water sliding down his chest, over those broad shoulders, tracing a path my eyes stubbornly followed.

He was looking at me like I was the only thing in that bathroom worth seeing.

“Come here,” he said, voice lower than usual. Rougher. “Let me wash you.”

“Easy, baby.” My fingers found the side drawer built into the tub and slid it open. “I need to do something first.”

I found a razor, still sealed. Opened it slowly. I could feel his eyes on my hands with every small movement. I parted my legs, braced my heels on the marble edge, leaned forward.

I dragged the blade slowly across my skin. Slow enough to hear it-metal against wet flesh, water dripping onto marble, his breathing shifting. Heavier now. Tighter.

I didn’t look at him.

I watched my hands instead. The smooth lines left behind. The care in every stroke. But I felt him. Felt the heat of his stare burning over the part of me laid open like that. Vulnerable. Bare. For him.

I rinsed the blade in the bathwater. The water stirred near his thigh.

He didn’t move.

“Don’t you think we moved in together kind of fast?” I asked, still focused on what I was doing, pretending this was a normal conversation. Pretending I wasn’t sitting here spread open in front of a man watching me like he was waiting for the exact right second to devour me. “I mean… shouldn’t we make it official first?”

“I was going to make it official on our date,” he said slowly, like each word mattered. “But as you know… things didn’t exactly go as planned.”

My hands stilled. I looked up at him.

“So you were going to ask me to be your girlfriend?”

He went quiet. His jaw tightened. His eyes flicked away for one second-the only hesitation I’d ever seen in him-then came back to me.

“Will you go out with me tomorrow?”

I huffed, but a smile slipped out. “I’m going to pretend I have no idea what you’re talking about, so… yes. I’ll go out with you.”

I rinsed my skin one last time and set the razor aside. “Let’s just hope nothing blows up this time.”

I turned toward him slowly. My fingertips traced down my stomach, following an invisible line to the tops of my thighs. where smooth skin caught the light.

“So?” I asked softly. “Like the results?”

His gaze darkened.

The water shifted when he leaned forward, arms lifting from the rim. His hands slid around my calves.

“Come here,” he murmured. “Let me take a closer look.”

I slid off the edge. The hot water wrapped around my ankles, then my knees, as I walked toward him. He didn’t move. Just sat there, watching me cross the space between us.

When I stopped in front of him, I was taller. He had to tilt his head back to look up at me. That angle-me standing, him down there looking at me like something sacred-did something tight and dangerous in my chest.

“Well?” My voice came out lower than I meant it to. “Better now?”

He bit his bottom lip. Slowly. Like he was tasting something.

His hand slid up my thigh. Slow. Deliberate. Palm hot. Fingers spread. When he reached the inside of my thigh, he pulled.

Not rough. Precise.

My left leg went over his shoulder. Then the right. I grabbed the marble edge behind me, fingers digging in, while he pulled me closer. While his mouth found the place I’d just prepared for him.

“You’re even more perfect for what I’m about to do to you.”
