I couldn’t sleep I kept turning over, as if every inch of the sheets were too hot to touch. The heat rising through my body felt wrong-thick, heavy, impossible to ignore. With a frustrated sigh, I shoved the blanket away and sat up, the cool air of the room brushing against skin that was far too warm
I stood before the restlessness swallowed me whole Reaching fo the silk robe draped over the armchair, I slipped it on slowly, hoping the fabric would soothe the burning pulse running beneath my skin. It didn’t. The silk only slid over me like a tease, igniting everything further. I tightened the belt and walked to the window.
The forest was silent, and I tried to breathe deep, to steady myself.
Where was he? Had he already returned and gone to sleep in his room?
Or… had he come back with someone else?
I rolled my eyes at myself
Oh. Maya
Shaking my head. I focused on the tree line, trying to spot the back wolf that often lingered nearby. But there was nothing. I crossed my arms, the silk trapping even more heat against my body.
What did he even mean when he said I could call for him and had hear?
1 let out a breath through my nose.
“He was probably bluffing.”
I looked ahead again and almost laughed at my own ridiculousness.
Minutes passed in silence, the forest unmoving.
Then, without meaning to, a whisper slipped from my lips-soft pointless, barely a sound at all.
Atila… Atila… Alpha Atila…”
The realization hit me like a slap, and I groaned.
“What am I doing? Did I actually fall for that? Who do I think he is? Some kind of superhero? He’d never hear me?
That was when something shifted between the trees-something fast, dark, cutting through the vegetation with supernatural speed toward the back of the house.
“What was that?” I murmured, narrowing my eyes. “Is that him? Did he just get here?”
I should’ve gone back to bed. Should’ve ignored everything, take a cold shower, and pretended none of this was happening
to me
But my feet moved on their own, driven by a restlessness that had stopped obeying logic hours ago
By the time I realized it. I was already in the hallway
I went down the stairs without feeling the steps beneath me, crossed the living room, the kitchen, the laundry room- guided by something invisible pulling me toward the back of the house. The heat inside me kept growing, suffocating. impossible to think through Instead of turning around, I let my body lead me down a narrow, din corridor

Chapter 18
And then I saw him
I froze
A tall, muscular man stood with his back to me-completely naked.
49
Moonlight carved out every inch of him: broad shoulders, a powerful back, a narrow waist, and the kind of firm, perfectly. sculpted ass that could ruin a woman’s sanity,
His clothes were tossed carelessly in a corner-pants, shirt-discrded as if he’d shed them right there before running.
My breath vanished.
He turned his head just enough for our eyes to meet, green irises catching the faint light as if he could see straight through me Heat rushed to my face, down my neck, all the way to my cars. I whipped my gaze away so fast I nearly stumbled on my own robe
“I’m sorry… I—I didn’t know you weren’t dressed.”
Silence Heavy, charged.
When he finally spoke, his voice was low-deep enough to vibrate.
“What are you doing here at this hour?”
“I… was thirsty”
The worst excuse imaginable, yet the only one that came out,
“I went to the kitchen to get some water and… clear my head.”
“Don’t lie to me, Maya
“I’m not lying.” My voice shook so much it betrayed me instantly
“Then say that while looking me in the eyes.”
I swallowed hard. Drew in a breath. Forced myself to turn.
He was already pulling on his pants, sliding the zipper up in one slow motion. From where I stood, the moonlight lit his chest-strong lines, defined muscles, and a thin trail of hair leading down into the V disappearing beneath his waistband.
My tongue flicked over my lips before I could stop it.
“Do you want to touch?” he asked
My gaze jerked up to his eyes instantly
“Wh-what?” I stammered, feeling my whole body heat like it mi combust. I must’ve been glowing red.
“Relax, little one” He took a single step back, just to tease “Everyone looks. You just thought louder than the rest.”
“I thought? My heart slammed against my ribs.
“Yeah That face of yours, those wide eyes.. they say everything for you”
“Sorry I didn’t realize I was that expressive I should go
“Want”

He walked toward me footsteps heavy, deliberate My body reamed before I could-stepping back until my spine met the cold wall. He lifted a hand, sweeping my hair aside, and only the did I notice how damp my neck was
“Why are you sweating like this?”
His voice shifted-deeper, tinged with concern. His gaze dipped to my throat, and my breath caught. “You’re burning up”
I shut my eyes, wishing I could disappear into the wall. But his torch was warm and grounding, impossible to escape. The simple press of his palm to my skin sent every thought scattering
“I’m fine.” The lie dragged out of me.
