The Rejected True Heiress (Liora and Callum) novel Chapter 154

If only I had tangible proof, then perhaps I could do something about it. But not yet.

“I’m not sleeping with the King,” I said simply. “You misunderstood.”

Freckles snorted. “Yeah, right. Then whose panties were those outside his apartment?”

“It certainly explains why he was so nice to you at the ceremony,” cinnamon roll boy pointed out with a sneer. “You probably blackmailed him, didn’t you? As if you could ever control the King in the end.”

Their responses came as no surprise. I figured they would rather listen to their precious “princess Bianca” than me. Rolling my eyes, I turned on my heel, deciding that I was done here.

Jessica saw the way my lip curled and, to her credit, stepped out of my way. I strode right past her and went back to my dorm without breakfast.

By that evening, though, I had made up my mind. I needed to find evidence of Bianca’s latest scheme; and soon, too, before this snowballed to even higher proportions.

Dressing in dark, nondescript clothing, I slipped out of my room and made my way to hers. However, just as I was rounding the corner, she stepped into the hallway with her phone pressed to her ear.

I stepped back into the shadows and peered around the corner, watching as she shut and locked her dorm.

“I said I’m coming, didn’t I?” she hissed to whoever was on the other end of the phone. “You’re gonna be there when I get there, right? He’ll be home tonight, so I need to make this quick. No dilly-dallying like last time.”

She paused while the other person responded, and I lifted a brow. Who was she walking to? And why did she sound so suspicious?

Interestingly, I found myself in the parking lot of a motel—off the freeway, the kind with potholes in the asphalt and a flickering neon sign that read “Vacancies” in bright orange lettering with the “s” having gone out completely.

What the fuck was Bianca doing in a place like this?

I carefully peeked around the car, spotting Bianca sauntering around the corner of the building. Sticking to the shadows, I followed her, pressing myself to the wall and peering around. She walked up to one of the motel rooms, lifting her hand to knock, but then glanced over her shoulder and nearly spotted me.

I hid again and pulled out my phone, then quietly snapped a few pictures from around the corner as she knocked. The motel room door opened. My eyes widened when I saw a man standing inside, although I couldn’t make out his features from here.

He and Bianca embraced, then stumbled into the room and shut the door behind them.
