Liora’s POV

By the next day, my interaction with Callum had all but consumed my mind. The pictures on my phone felt heavier than ever. I couldn’t focus in my morning class, and I could hardly eat my food at lunch.

Not that it mattered, anyway, because I was pretty certain one of Bianca’s followers who worked in the kitchen had tampered with my food.

I kept thinking back on last night. Callum had been so kind for a bit, had even smiled and listened to music with me; only to turn around and act completely different when I showed him the pictures.

He said I was trying to sabotage his relationship. That it wasn’t really Bianca.

And then he kicked me out of his car and drove off at breakneck speeds.

Was he really that obtuse? Did he really think all those things, or was he just trying to convince himself that it wasn’t true?

“Hello? Earth to Liora?” I lifted my head from where my cheek was propped on my fist, and Zane poked the bandage on my head, making me wince.

“Ow! What was that for?”

“You’ve been zoning out for, like, the past ten minutes,” Zane said, glancing at his watch. “Lunch is almost over and you haven’t eaten a bite.”

“You’re going to disappear if you keep losing weight,” Mia pointed out gently. She gave me her cookie, probably sensing that my food was currently unsafe to eat.

“Thanks.” I took the cookie and popped a piece of it into my mouth. “Sorry, I’m just… reeling.”

“Reeling about what?” Mia asked, leaning forward.

I hesitated, not sure how much to tell them. But I was already keeping so much from them, and I couldn’t add this to the pile, too. Besides, I needed some insight. I told them about last night and showed them the pictures.

Zane’s eyes widened when he saw the pictures. “Liora, you have to post these!” he whispered, snatching my phone away. “This could finally end Bianca’s reign of terror—she’s totally cheating on Callum!”

I clenched my teeth and grabbed my phone back from him, shutting it off and slipping it into my pocket.
