The Rejected True Heiress (Liora and Callum) novel Chapter 186

Liora’s POV

My jaw went slack.

“Excuse me?” I said, turning slowly to face Bianca.

“You heard me.” Bianca folded her arms across her chest and lifted her chin, sneering at me down her nose. “I saw the whole thing, Liora. I saw you recklessly throw yourself in front of that rogue like some kind of hero. Callum had to save you. That’s why Bella got taken—because you forced him to choose between you and her.”

I couldn’t respond right away. I just stood there, staring at Bianca, honestly failing to understand how she could stoop this low.

A girl had been taken. Two students were missing, potentially even dead or worse.

And Bianca was still pulling this shit?

“Is that true, Liora?” Darian took a step forward. “You tried to fight the rogue on your own? You’re a wolfless!”

“I was trying to help,” I said.

Bianca’s mouth quirked upward. “Oh, you helped, alright. You helped piss the rogue off further, distracting Callum, and let it get away with Bella.”

My hands clenched into fists at my sides. I opened my mouth to tell them the truth—that I had momentarily forgotten I couldn’t shift, and I had acted on instinct. But I couldn’t. If I told them that, it would reveal my true identity. And would they even believe me, or would they just laugh in my face?

“Face it, Liora,” Bianca said when I remained silent. “You fucked up, got in the way, and now another girl is suffering for it. Bella might be dead right now because of you. Meanwhile, my fiance is endangering his own life by running around, cleaning up your mess.”

Marissa’s girlfriend made another distressed sound at the mention of death. She covered her face with her hands and ran out of the room, sobbing. Her friend shot me a hateful glare before she ran after her.
