Liora’s POV
The first thing I noticed when I woke was the sensation of warm sunlight spilling across my cheek and hair. Then came the soft pillow beneath my head, and the plush blanket covering my body.
The next thing I noticed was the pain in my hand. But that was nothing compared to the scent that was wrapping around me.
Callum.
I jolted awake, eyes flying open. The morning sun had just barely begun to rise, half of it still hidden behind the hills on the horizon. For a moment, I just laid there, brow furrowed in confusion.
What happened last night? The last thing I recalled was Callum patching up my hand, and then I had tried to stand up… The rest was a blur. I must have fainted from the blood loss.
Heat crept up my neck as I slowly sat up, looking around.
Suddenly, I heard a sound below me. Looking over the edge of the bed, I spotted Callum sleeping on the floor. His back was turned to me, dark hair mussed. My face warmed even further.
Had I really slept in Callum’s bed all night? Had he slept on the hard floor all night, just so I could rest in his bed?
The thought made something tender unfurl in my chest. Something that I had extinguished too long ago to stoke now. Careful not to make a sound, I crawled out of bed and padded across the room.
