The Rejected True Heiress (Liora and Callum) novel Chapter 221

Liora’s POV

The principal was pacing his quarters with quick strides when we were shoved into the room by the guards. The moment he whirled around and I saw the fire in his eyes, I knew we were screwed.

“Ah. So if it isn’t the three musketeers, come back from another one of their little adventures.” Mr. Alder snapped his fingers at the sofa like telling a dog to lay down. “Sit. All of you.”

When we didn’t move fast enough, he snarled through his teeth, “Now.”

Zane was the first to sit, lounging with one elbow propped on the armrest. I perched on the middle cushion and twisted my hands in my lap. Callum stood there for a long moment, refusing to sit.

The tension between him and Mr. Alder seemed to thicken. They just stared at each other, locked in a battle of silent wills.

Finally, Callum sat beside me.

“Now. Who would like to speak first?” Principal Alder said, looking between the three of us. “Which one of you was the ringleader of this little scheme, hm? Zane? Callum?” He turned slowly, face darkening. “Or was it you, Miss Belrose?”

I pushed my jaw forward and pursed my lips. None of us spoke for a long moment.

“A girl died yesterday thanks to you and your classmates’ harebrained scheme for pizza,” Alder hissed. He leaned forward, pressing his fingertips against the top of the coffee table. “And now you three think it’s a good idea to go out and confront the rogues head-on?”

“It’s not like security was doing anything,” Zane muttered.

Alder snapped his head toward him. “Pardon?”
