The Rejected True Heiress (Liora and Callum) novel Chapter 358

Liora’s POV

By Monday morning, the date was apparently common knowledge all over campus.

I didn’t know how it happened. I hadn’t told anyone the details about the date except for Mia, and she had proven herself not to be the type to yap when I told her not to. But somehow, people had found out about the successful meal and even the kiss, and now everything had been embellished into a happily ever after that was only seen in fairytales.

I heard the gossip first in the hallway before my morning class, when two girls I vaguely recognized from another class of mine walked past me mid-conversation without noticing I was there.

“I heard they went to that new bistro in town,” one said. “Like, the one with the really expensive wine.”

“No way. For a first date, no less?” the other asked.

“Right?” The first girl giggled behind her hand. “And apparently they even kissed.”

“So romantic… I wonder if that means they’ll get together now. For good this time.”

The first girl sighed. “I kind of hope so. Liora grew on me. But Princess Bianca won’t be happy, that’s for sure.”

I pulled my hood up and walked faster, not in the mood to be noticed right now.

It wasn’t that I was embarrassed by the date or the gossip, exactly. It was more that I hadn’t decided yet what any of it meant, and having the entire student body weigh in before I had even gotten there myself felt deeply irritating.

At least I didn’t have to worry about Bianca anymore like those girls thought. Now that she knew who I really was, she knew better than to keep messing around. I just hoped she wouldn’t decide to be vindictive and reveal my identity to everyone before I was ready.

I wanted Callum to hear it from me first, especially if there was going to be another date.

My face heated just at the thought. Was there going to be another date? Was I really going to let that happen, after everything?

By the time I made it to my seat in class, I had already heard three separate versions of what had happened, two of which were wildly inaccurate, although the third was shockingly spot-on.

I set my bag down and stared at the front of the room while the professor started talking, but I wasn’t really listening. I was turning the evening over in my head again, the same way I had been doing since I got back to my dorm the night before and laid on my bed staring at the ceiling for an embarrassing amount of time.
