Bianca’s POV
I shoved through the door and let it slam behind me. For a moment, I paused, exhaling slowly.
Liora had almost beaten me and taken my pride with her.
After everything I had worked for, that was the last thing I needed.
“What was that, girl?!”
The low voice made me look up. Sure enough, Aunt Belinda was standing near the water fountain with her arms crossed, watching me with those sharp eyes that missed nothing. She looked me up and down, taking in my disheveled hair, my flushed face, the way my hands were still trembling from the adrenaline.
Her lips pressed into a thin line.
“You almost let a wolfless take you down in a simple spar!”
I opened my mouth to argue, but the words stuck in my throat. She’d seen the whole thing. Of course she had. She probably watched through the window in the door, saw me get flipped onto my back, saw Liora pin me to the mat like I was nothing.
“It was just a fluke,” I managed, pulling my shoulders back and walking over to her. “She got lucky, that’s all.”
“Lucky.” Belinda’s voice was flat. “That girl nearly had you pinned for a three-count. If the professor hadn’t stopped the fight, she would have won.”
“Well, he did stop it,” I said, folding my arms. “So it doesn’t matter.”
My aunt’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “You’re supposed to be the heir, Bianca. The future female Alpha. And you just got your ass handed to you by someone who doesn’t even have a wolf.”
My face burned. “My wolf is stronger than hers ever was. You said so yourself.”
“Your wolf, yes. But your skills are not up to par. Not yet.” She shook her head. “Liora was trained by the royal Delta her entire life. Meanwhile, your whore of a mother never bothered to get you any of the necessary training for a future princess.”
