Chapter 482
“Does she know that?” I asked, looking at my aunt.
She shrugged. “Would it matter if she did or didn’t? All she’d have to do is shed your blood. Whether she does it knowingly or not is neither here nor there.”
I bit my lip. If Liora got her wolf back, everything would fall apart. The King might scent her and snap out of his spell, naming her his heir again. And then what would happen to me? I’d likely be named a traitor, lose the title I’d held onto so briefly, and probably go to prison or even face execution.”
That was not a risk I wanted to take.
But I couldn’t back out of the tournament. Callum had said that he would only get back together with me if I won. had to make sure that happened.
“I made sure Daisy is in the tournament,” I said, looking at Belinda again. “She’s the final match before anyone can fight me. No one will beat her. Not even Liora.”
Belinda cocked her head. “You’re sure her spell is still firmly in place?”
“As firm as a titanium wall,” I said.
She nodded once. “Very well.” She glanced around, making sure we were alone, then pulled something out of my pocket. It was small, wrapped in a white cloth. I didn’t see what it was, but my aunt held it carefully, like whatever was inside the cloth was fragile. “But I don’t believe in leaving things to chance.”
She pressed the object into my palm and closed my fingers around it.
“What is this?” I asked, looking down at it.
