Arriving at the police station, Elara Vance remained perfectly calm.
She admitted to soliciting an escort.
The guy in the interrogation room next door vehemently denied it.
Sebastian Whitaker, who had tagged along to handle the mess, also denied it, insisting they ran a legitimate, fully compliant business.
But the police officer told him Elara had confessed to everything, giving Sebastian a massive headache.
Elara had no idea how it was ultimately resolved. She hadn't even seen Sebastian since the incident, completely unaware he had followed her there.
The officer simply told her she could pay a fine and leave.
Elara asked the officer to call her husband to come pay it.
The young cop looked stunned.
It was his first time seeing someone get busted in a vice raid and look so serenely unfazed.
Let alone asking to call her husband.
Besides, a single night at a club of that caliber cost more than what an average person made in two or three years.
Judging by her designer clothes, she hardly looked like someone who couldn't scrape together a few hundred bucks.
More importantly, her luxury handbag was stuffed to the brim with stacks of cash meant for the escort.
Cash that, of course, she had voluntarily surrendered as evidence.
"Elara—" Vivian Vance rushed forward to intervene. "Let's talk about this at home." Getting dragged into a police station during a vice raid was humiliating. No matter how angry she was, she had to keep it under wraps. Her reputation was on the line, and ruining it over Julian Sterling simply wasn't worth it.
But Elara was unyielding.

Sebastian, highly irritated by having to clean up this mess, did the petty thing and called Gideon Grant, Vivian's current man.
He informed the young heir that the younger Vance sister had been caught up in a vice raid at his club and asked him to come pick her up at the station.
On the other end of the line, Gideon narrowed his eyes. How the hell did a vice raid hit The Sapphire Lounge?
"What exactly did you do to her?"
"I didn't even get to see Vivian. I just got dragged to the station to sort this out," Sebastian said. "I'm not entirely sure what happened. I guess young women can hardly help themselves when faced with a handsome escort. Anyway, I've smoothed things over. Come get your girl, Gideon."
Sebastian offered a few more vague, passive-aggressive remarks before hanging up.
He knew Gideon wouldn't buy the story entirely. Young women rarely came to his club looking to pay for sex; at that age, their heads were usually still full of fairy-tale romance.
But his underlying message was clear: your woman came to play at my playground.
It was the equivalent of a good girl taking a stroll through the red-light district.
Good girls didn't belong there.
Sebastian pocketed his phone with a satisfied smirk. If he had to suffer through this migraine, he was going to make sure everyone else suffered with him.
