As soon as Elara returned to the office, the atmosphere plummeted to freezing.
"What are you doing here? Doesn't your face hurt anymore?" she asked coldly.
The last time she saw Julian, she had slapped him and provoked him so much that they hadn't even discussed real business.
"I'm here to officially inform you that I do not agree to a divorce."
Elara's gaze turned icy. "Then please show yourself out. I have nothing left to say to you. You can take up any further issues with my lawyer."
His reaction was both expected and surprising.
Julian forced down his anger. "Yes, I cheated. But you hired a sleazy john. Caleb Mercer has already received his rightful punishment. Let's just turn the page on this."
Elara looked at him with sheer mockery. "Is this all just for my dowry? Is it really worth it?"
"You're supposed to be the pristine Julian Sterling, the Fifth Scion of the City. I truly look down on you."
Julian's voice dropped. "Are you done being sarcastic? I came here to notify you, not to argue."
"If you insist on being stubborn, then we'll just wait for the legal process," Elara said. "Marriage laws have been around for a long time. I don't believe there's a marriage in this world that can't be dissolved."
Julian scoffed. "I refuse to admit that our relationship has broken down."
"Whose relationship hasn't broken down? Ours? While you were all lovey-dovey with that TV host, I was rolling in the sheets with someone else. How is that not a breakdown?"
"Do I have to spell it out for you? Do I have to tell you that he's bigger, lasts longer, and that I could never look at you again? Is that the heartbreaking truth you need to hear?"
"Do you even look at what other men are working with when you go to the restroom?"
She knew that calling him greedy or despicable wouldn't faze him. He was a wealthy heir who excelled in his background, career, looks, and education. None of those insults could touch him.
But insulting his manhood and calling him sexually inadequate? That would absolutely crush him.
So, Elara weaponized the most vicious words she could find.
"Do you know what that feels like? Of course, you don't."
