Sitting in the private room on Lexington Avenue again.
Nadia had an icy expression on her face.
Zane slid the menu toward her. "Take a look, see what you'd like to eat."
Nadia's face remained blank. "Not having spicy stew today?"
"I'm open to trying something else," Zane said flatly.
Nadia ignored him and directly ordered a few of her favorite dishes.
The staff for this private room were fixed. Since Zane was the boss, he had a designated room, so it was the same waitress as before.
She looked at the two expressionless people and figured this meal was likely going to be another waste, so she asked, "Boss, the usual?"
What "usual"?
She had deliberately omitted the part about making half portions.
Zane gave a nod. "Go ahead."
The waitress left to submit the order.
Silence fell over the room until all the dishes were served.
Zane shot the waitress a look, and she instantly understood, bringing over serving silverware.
Zane placed portions of two dishes on Nadia's plate. "Please, Nadia."
Nadia asked bluntly, "Mr. Whitaker, what made you change your mind?"
Thinking of that certain someone, a faint smile instinctively graced Zane's lips. "My decision has never changed."
Nadia didn't give him the satisfaction of a polite response. "Oh, then I misunderstood you. You just naturally love spicy stew."
"Those are trivial matters," Zane replied.
Nadia didn't want to bother engaging with him; she would rather he go back to being as obnoxious as before.
After they finished eating, Zane considerately asked if she needed a ride.
Nadia said she had her own car.
"Then I'll see you this weekend. I'll pick you up at your family's estate."
Nadia shot him a glare, slammed the car door, and drove off without looking back.
