Julian's expression remained utterly frigid. "Do it."
His mother had already warned him not to let these messes become leverage against him.
This was her only card to play, so there was no way she'd actually get rid of the baby.
Vanessa stared at him, utterly dumbfounded.
Julian took in every ounce of her shock.
Suddenly, Vanessa stormed furiously toward the door. "Fine! If that's how it is, then I'll drag everyone down with me."
"I'll make sure everyone at the Sterling Group sees exactly what kind of man their heir apparent really is!"
"A man who cheated on his wife with a TV host, knocked up his mistress, and then tried to kick her to the curb!"
Julian lunged forward, grabbing her arm in a vice-like grip. "Are you out of your mind?!"
"I'm not crazy!" Vanessa screamed. "I'm going to tell the whole damn world! My career is over, and you refuse to marry me. We might as well all burn in hell together!"
Julian tightened his grip, refusing to let go. "I told you from day one—I will never marry you!"
"Then what the hell was I doing all this for?!"
"To lose my job?"
"To let you beat me?"
"To have your bastard child?"
"Come on, tell me! What did I want from you?!" Vanessa shrieked, fully breaking down.
Julian gripped her arm tightly, terrified she would actually bolt out the door. "I'll look into fixing your work situation."
Vanessa seemed to lock onto his weak point. "You fixing my job and getting me on TV was the price for satisfying your sick fetishes."
"Right now, I want you to marry me!"
"Give me and this baby a legitimate place in your life!"
Julian didn't dare shoot her down completely this time. Softening his tone, he said, "Let me ask around about your job first."
