The Rose He Showed Off Is Putting Down Roots in a Garden of Her Own novel Chapter 256

"Not at all," Zane replied honestly. "My ex-wife is terrifying. She'd literally beat me to death."

"Stop joking around and drive." Elara urged him to get moving, terrified someone they knew might spot them. He couldn't exactly tell everyone they were having a business meeting.

Zane started the engine and drove straight in the direction of The Sovereign.

"Mr. Whitaker, where exactly are you taking me?"

Zane's expression didn't change. "It's getting late. Let's just head straight home."

"Getting late? It's barely two-thirty."

Zane smiled. "I kept track. Your period is over."

"Can't you keep your mind on something professional for once?"

"Please enlighten me, President Vance. What exactly is unprofessional about my thoughts?"

"Ugh, you know exactly what I mean."

"I really don't." Zane chuckled.

Elara shot him a glare. "What, did you bring protection with you again?"

Zane held back a laugh. He had just attended a high-level government summit; why would he be carrying that around?

He cast a teasing glance her way. "Are you saying you want to do it in the car?"

Elara's face flushed hot. "What kind of nonsense are you spouting?"

Zane said smoothly, "I actually have another property nearby with a private, enclosed garage. If you're feeling adventurous, I can definitely accommodate."

"Shut up and take me back to the office right now."

Zane grinned shamelessly. "Don't you ever miss me?"

Elara turned her face toward the window. "Not in the slightest."

"I don't believe you."

Elara remained silent.

Zane ignored her protests and drove them straight to The Sovereign anyway.

The moment the facial recognition unlocked the front door, he pulled her into a passionate kiss.
