Zane called Elara's sister, his designated actress, Vivian Vance.
When she heard the location was a hotel, Vivian cut straight to the chase. "Mr. Whitaker, what's the script today? Are we overcome with uncontrollable passion in broad daylight, rushing to book a room, only to be caught red-handed wearing nothing but bath towels?"
Zane chuckled. "What on earth are you talking about?"
Vivian retorted, "I just don't think this storyline works. Your ex-wife isn't stupid enough to buy it."
Vivian was still holding a grudge from the last time Jocelyn had insulted her, indirectly mocking Zane's supposed impotence and infertility.
Ah, this girl had a dangerously sharp tongue. If she ever actually became his sister-in-law, his life was going to be very difficult.
"Ms. Yale is attending a conference at this hotel. We're just going to grab lunch, orchestrate a little 'accidental' run-in, and play it by ear."
Vivian rolled her eyes internally. Going through all this melodramatic soap-opera nonsense just to shake off an ex-wife?
Wouldn't dragging her into bed and proving her wrong be a lot faster?
Thinking about that, Vivian remembered the rumors surrounding him and almost laughed out loud.
Maybe the great Mr. Whitaker really couldn't get it up, which was why the direct approach wasn't an option.
After all, rumors rarely started out of nowhere.
Tch!
What a waste of a perfectly good face and an incredible physique. He was no better than Gideon Grant—beautiful on the outside, completely useless on the inside.

Arriving at the hotel entrance.
Vivian walked alongside Zane, smiling sweetly. "Mr. Whitaker, with a body and face like yours, it's hard to believe you can't sweet-talk a woman into submission."
"Ex-wife," Zane corrected, emphasizing the distinction.
Vivian offered a backhanded compliment. "With your height and build, it's a tragedy you didn't become a male model. Is coaxing Ms. Yale really that impossible?"
'Male model' had two meanings. One was a legitimate fashion model, praised for their striking physique and engaging in proper work.
The other was an escort, praised for their looks or other stamina-related talents, engaging in very unofficial business.
