"Zane, the guy is one of our biggest whales," Sebastian warned. "He pays for girls seven days a week." "Do I look like I'm hurting for his money?" Zane shot back. "Listen, she has a husband. Even Julian isn't saying a word. We can just pretend we didn't hear anything." Sebastian tried to reason with him, but Zane cut him off sharply. "I am going to make him pay. If you can destroy him quietly in the dark, do it. If not, I'll tear him apart in broad daylight."

Sebastian sighed in disbelief. "How exactly do you want to destroy him in the dark?" "Ruin him. Make it so he can never sleep with another woman again." For a man who was viciously addicted to sex, the ultimate punishment wasn't draining his bank account or exposing him to public outrage. It was leaving him completely incapable of performing, forcing him to suffer the agonizing withdrawals for the rest of his life. Hearing the pure ice in his cousin's voice, Sebastian suspected Zane had wanted to do this all along and was just waiting for the right moment to give the order.

Left with no choice, Sebastian nodded. "Don't rush me. I'll wait for the right opening." Who was Caleb? The man had deep pockets and powerful connections. Zane might be acting recklessly, but Sebastian had to keep a level head. He couldn't afford to drag the Whitaker family into a massive war over a petty grievance. "Zane, this has to be done perfectly. Like a ghost."

Julian never showed up at her door again. Elara realized that the Caleb incident had finally blown over. The reason Julian hadn't returned to demand a divorce was obvious: after weighing the risks and benefits, he realized he desperately needed to maintain his image as a devoted husband. Since he was staying quiet, Elara focused entirely on saving her company. She had finally learned the hard way that in this world, absolutely everything was more important than love.

Even though Caleb hadn't laid a finger on Elara, Zane had no intention of letting him walk away unharmed. By ordering Sebastian to secretly cripple the man, he was killing two birds with one stone. Ruining Caleb physically would distract everyone and help bury the malicious rumors surrounding Elara. It would also ensure the bastard could never obsess over her again. A permanent solution.

Worried about how the rumors were affecting Elara, Zane desperately wanted to check on her. He pulled an incredibly cliché move, pulling strings and cutting through miles of red tape just to find out which restaurant Elara was hosting a business dinner at. Then, he orchestrated a perfect coincidental encounter while supposedly inspecting the property. When he discovered she hadn't been drinking, he claimed he was heavily intoxicated and asked her for a ride. Feeling deeply indebted to Sebastian for saving her, and by extension Zane, Elara happily agreed to drive him home.

Sitting in the driver's seat of the Maybach S680 outside the restaurant, Jasper watched Zane eagerly follow Elara to her car and muttered, "Pathetic." Just then, his phone rang. It was his older sister, Jocelyn Yale. "Where the hell is Zane? Why isn't he answering his phone?" Jocelyn demanded. Where was Zane? Zane was currently busy chasing after another man's wife.

Jasper dodged the question. "Just tell me what you need, Jocelyn." "Did he go to the bank to secure funding for Vance Group? Did he actually sign on as their guarantor?!" she snapped. "Where did you hear that?" "Stop talking in circles and just tell me if it's true!" Jocelyn shouted. "The situation is complicated. It's not something I can explain in two sentences," Jasper replied vaguely, neither confirming nor denying it.

The truth was, it wasn't complicated at all. Zane was practically bending over backward to play the hero, and no one could stop him. But Jasper couldn't tell his sister that, or she would march straight over to Zane's front door to cause a scene. "Is this Vance woman really that manipulative?" Jocelyn sneered. "Does she have him completely under her spell?" *She doesn't even have to try,* Jasper thought to himself. *Your ex-husband is doing all the heavy lifting himself.* "Just leave him alone, Jocelyn. Let him bankrupt himself. If the company goes under, maybe Seraphina will finally lower her standards and date me." "You're useless," Jocelyn snapped, and hung up the phone.
