The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] novel Chapter 827

Chapter 827: The Imperial Side Hustle

Yes. Food safety and sanitation.

Xavier remembered very clearly the moment Luca insisted that the lessons had to start with that.

At the time, it had caught everyone off guard. Not only did Luca want to give a short lecture before any actual cooking began, but he had also insisted on preparing aprons and hats for everyone in advance.

But his little money-grubber, despite looking a little teary-eyed, still insisted that it was important.

Because according to him, these people would go home and cook for their families. If they did that without understanding the basics of food safety, then instead of a happy meal, they might end up with stomach aches. Or worse. Food poisoning.

Thankfully, his wife didn’t end up too depressed over the clear monetary cost of doing such a thing. Because according to the business acumen of one Ollie Mylor, he was certain that providing the best materials would be the smart thing to do as he was confident that the cost could be recouped.

Xavier had raised an eyebrow at that back then but with his little wife looking up at him with those big, shining and definitely hopeful eyes, how could he not force the words out?

And so, the Imperial Crown Prince, taught by the best tutors and raised to become the next leader of the Empire, found himself doing something he had never once imagined he would do in his life.

He began selling aprons.

Xavier stood at the front, posture straight, expression calm, and began in the same tone he used when talking to D-29.

"Before we begin," he said evenly, "there are a few things we need to cover regarding safety in the kitchen."

That alone had already made several people stiffen.

"There are hazards involved in food preparation," Xavier continued. "Spills. Hot surfaces. Sharp tools. Actual fire. Liquids that stain and soak into fabric. There are probably many more depending on the kitchen and the type of cooking, but those are usually the typical concerns."

He gestured toward the apron each participant was holding.

"Those aprons are designed to protect your clothing from spills, splashes, stains, dirt, and moderate heat. They also have large pockets, so you can keep tools close and easy to reach."

He motioned for it and demonstrated the pocket.

"They can be washed and reused," he added. "So if it becomes too dirty, you may clean it and use it again."

There were nods. Several impressed murmurs.

Xavier then motioned to the hats.

"As for the hat," he said, "this is for hygiene. Hair, sweat, and other contaminants that you don’t really want near food."

A few people instinctively touched their heads.

"It’s not strictly required when cooking for yourself because you’d likely know what’s in there," he acknowledged. "But when preparing food for others, it’s worth considering so it’s easier to narrow things down in case there are issues."

The room was quiet. Attentive.

Then Xavier paused, as if transitioning to a less serious matter.

"The gear is provided free for use during this class," he said smoothly. "However, if you wish to take them home, you may purchase them afterward."

He resisted the urge to cough and continued, voice steady.

"If you do decide to do so, you may proceed to the reception counter later. Names can be embroidered there so you can personalize the items."

He glanced to the side.

His little anxious chipmunk had straightened instantly, hands clasped in front of him, clearly bracing himself for violent and negative reactions.

They never came.

Instead, the room erupted.

People began murmuring excitedly. With most questions asking whether they could buy extra sets for themselves and their other family members.

Because sure enough, who wouldn’t buy them after hearing that?

Princess Nina’s ears particularly twitched.

How could they not?

In her short life, she had never seen such a beautiful apron! And that was after having seen others in the dungeon space wearing something similar!

Those were great and she had long wanted her own, but what she was holding now looked even better!

The adults all had dark gray aprons that made them look dignified and important, which was nice. Very nice. But the children’s aprons were on a completely different level. Hers had an embroidered tortoise right on the pocket.

Tortie!

Right there.
